The concept of a rate is that it is normalised to population size and therefore doesn’t include a comparison of the number of aliens with that of the entire US population. Jeez, no wonder people vote for Trump. Isn’t this stuff taught in US schools?

So you get that borders are a construct born of selfishness and a desire to control the lesser fortunates in your domain, I hope. Probably you don't. Would you rather that never had a single hominid move away from his fire and cave instead? Even if you go full BUT JESUS! on us that still happened, at a minimum, 250,000 years before Jesus was imagined.Look around the world, man, no nations borders are secure: too many rats on the rock.

People are getting more pissed by the day because it's ever more obvious we are getting screwed, our doctors are a big part of the problem, and we do not have the best healthcare or outcomes in the world, period. I recently couldn't get my heart medicine refilled for the umpteenth time until I made an appointment with my cardiologist and had my time wasted for an hour waiting and 5 minutes with the bastard not to mention scheduling my days around it all. Of course during and after Covid telehealth was no problemo and he even took my word on my blood pressure. I need to get my next echo out of yearly insurance sync for my medical so it will be out of pocket, oh well. I asked how much that would be and he said someone in the business office would know, as if he hadn't a clue, then mumbled probably hundreds but probably not thousands, and scurried off knowing he'd just made an ass of himself. Not to put Jay's knickers in a twist again but we used to laugh about people going postal when the actuality was no laughing matter. Hopefully health insurance gets fixed before we are wrongly laughing about that, too. Dear Joe, It sounds like your doctor was too busy doing "medical stuff" to worry about billing. Smart doctors in Canada focus on "medical stuff" and avoid the administrative side because the highest and best use of their time is "medical stuff." I can give you 2 examples. First, faceless bureaucrats at Workmens' Compensation Borad of B.C. tried to ignore long-term problems with my knee. After WCB's lawyers "stirred the pot" WCB imposed a 2 year delay on knee surgery. It was only due to the stubborn efforts of my Boer family doctor that I finally got surgery by one of the best knee surgeons in B.C. (professor at the University of B.C. Hospital and False Creek Medical Clinic). When I later asked the surgeon to write a note to lawyers, he side-stepped because he did not want to waste his time on legal matters. Second example: my cousin is married to one of the busiest OBGYNs in Abbotsford. She works long hours doing "medical stuff" while my cousin keeps the books (accounting) for her 4-doctor clinic. The truth is the asshole needed me in his office so as to create an insurance billing, my inconvenience be damned. We aren't patients, we're clients and the bastard could have just refilled my prescription knowing the loss wouldn't affect his million a year at all. I don’t think a GP is making anywhere near that. Step daughter is a hand surgeon. Brings in ~
