Finally a concise definition of what 'woke' is - pronouns on social media. Seems like such a petty thing to get so worked up about, but whatever floats your boat.

I see them on email signatures, website profiles, job sites and resume's, doctor's office forms, hospital forms, legal documents....they're still living.

I expect they will survive the hatred of MAGATs.

Hatred is.... the end all.Seems like another case of deja vu. But when a detractor Identifies the opposition as hate...the moral high ground is all yours.lol

In this pejorative sense, woke means "following an intolerant and moralising ideology."

RushMC, April 2006: "There IS a problem with global warming... it stopped in 1998!"

Brenthutch, June 2018: "Oh, and Tesla will be bankrupt within five years."

Brenthutch, Sept 2024: "And they predicted a very active season in the Atlantic. It would seem the science is far from settled."

Brenthutch yesterday: "Woke is dead"

From the track record of right wing posters on here, we can conclude "woke" is alive and well.

I drove through town and saw a number of "man hole covers".  What are they going to call them now?

I guess if they were woman hole covers, you could call them sanitary napkins.

So clever. Did you think that up yourself or did it come from a Joe Rogan guest?

I think you might have got a bit too close to the rotor.

Was at a corporate holiday party and was discussing woke to their head of HR she told me pronouns were a red flag and anyone who put them on their resume was likely a lawsuit waiting to happen and recommend to her staff that they be deposited in the circular filing cabinet.

So in other words if they were the most qualified for the job it didn’t matter. Gotcha

What percentage of women want to work in the sewers?

How many women can lift a man-hole cover single-handedly?

An employee is usually part of a team and dropping a woke SJW into a workgroup is a recipe for disaster, (according to her) especially when there are many other qualified candidates who are less likely to be high maintenance.

Sounds like the rationale used to exclude black people years ago.  "Well, there are plenty of qualified white candidates, and introducing a colored person  into our white workforce will be a disruptive influence - and be more work for me.  I am NOT RACIST - perish the thought! - this is just a good business decision."

There is always a rationale for any prejudice.

ohhh, how quickly the "just hire the best candidate, I don't care about race, colour, sex, gender, changes.

Again, stand for nothing, just talk in circles. Only thing you care about is hurting other people.

I’m not that companies head of HR and race, and gender DON’T matter, that is why they should not be included on a resume

But "woke policies" like removing names from a resume is DEI bullshit and needs to stop.

Again, talking in circles.

Any chance she was pandering to you because she knows your bent and so as to not embarrass your wife who actually has the job? Nah, that wouldn’t happen at a corporate holiday party.

Business folks tend to be about business, not self righteous crusades. She said she had to deal with constant complaints of SHWs being offended, sometimes on behalf of others who took no offense. “They are a pain in the ass, but the environment being what it is, have to be handled with kid gloves. It’s best not to have to deal with them at all” (her words)

Her sentiment is being echoed throughout business as companies across the spectrum drop their SGI initiatives

If you say so but it does seem odd for a Head of HR to publicly bemoan a sensitive corporate internal matter with a plus one at a party.

In fact, if you change the names of black women to gender neutral white-sounding names on their resumes (i.e. LaShonda to Chris) they do get interviews more often.

The goal is for that to not matter.  The goal is not to teach people to hide who they are so that bigots will like them more.
