IMO the high-lighted portion above could not be more true. * Jerry Baumchen * And, this includes me. Our IT director has started using ChatGPT for project plans, instructions for end users, reports to the executive level, and communicating from an engineering level to a more generic and easily understood level. Some people here wouldn't understand that though. The insistence on removing education is painful to see, and yet they are then confused over the need for foreigners to be granted visas to fulfill the need in America for advanced engineering jobs. Some Americans appear to be quite proud of their ignorance. This thread is yet more proof of that as well. I still cannot get ChatGPT to configure a multi-site BGP/ISIS/EIGRP network design, though it will refer me to the needed information to understanding those backbone protocols. Hi Keith, Quite a few yrs ago, when the Olympics were held in the US, they had a map for carrying the torch thru all 50 states. Just don't ask me when or how to find the map. I don't think it went thru any state twice. You might be able to find the map. Jerry Baumchen

In tried ChatGPT once! I asked it a question about acid mesh ... a problem that grumpy old grey-bearded Master Riggers learned about back during the 1980s. ChatGPT replied that acid mesh was good for parachute fabric. I will never trust ChatGPT again.

Ai isn’t perfect by a long shot, but it’s incredibly useful. Not implying you’re old and technically challenged, but there is a bit of an art to using the right prompt structure - on Chatgbt. Wonder if Rick wants to go :) I used to have a screenshot from way back I put in directions to go from North Perth to South of the River (about 30 miles away) and google maps gave directions to the nearest boat ramp, said kayak to Hawaii and back and then finished the journey. I’m guessing either I hit a bit of test code, an irate employee who was about to be fired or just an Easter egg. BTW: As the clock ticks down towards the end, every post seems to be the ultimate game of “in before the lock” from the time that was a trend here

Wonder if Rick wants to go :) There's a lot of really good reasons to use an 'old school' paper map. As I travel across the country, there's a Rand McNally Motor Carrier's Road Atlas on my dash. I don't use it as much as I used to, but there are still times it's a better and easier choice than the GPS maps (truck computer, old hand held Garmin and Google on my phone.

Thank you. I hadn't thought of that in years. I may have to pass on the 50 states and do this. This is my last year for a long bike ride, so saying I did the Canonball would be like a WFFC rite of passage. Time to give it up. Getting too painful as time goes on.
