Yeah, that is crazy talk. It’s not like a government would ever tell you what kind of vehicle you can buy and what type you can’t.

Been doing that for 50 years.  Try to buy a car without seatbelts or taillights, for example.

I'm thinking you two should have a real man's contest. Go outside, rub penis heads, the first one to smile - loses.

Sorry, low T guy like me couldn't possibly do that with such a macho alpha male.

Maybe we can drink tea and the first to smile loses?

But we both have stick our pinky out.

Only if you intend to drive it on public roads. Are there any government restrictions on a car only to be used on private land?

Good Q.  For the most part no - as long as you build it there.  If you try to import it as a car from (say) China you may well run into import restrictions.

Place what bet? That you don’t lift your little pinky finger when you sip your wine? I’ve already profiled you. What else do I need?

Wow you really hit a nerve with SkyDekker. He even resorted to the “want-to-make-a-bet” strategy we all learned in grade school.

You missed out the fact that like you, jaybird started it by completely making shit up because he was losing the argument about the actual topic badly

  • Brent, losing argument: "olof lives in his mother's basement!"
  • Jaybird, losing argument: "SkyDekker is low T, takes Meth, wears spandex!"

So much for someone who deals with "facts"

You forgot the “fact” that I live, rent free, in that big brain of yours. BTW what kind of EV did you buy? Or are you still resorting to public transport?

I just like people who are willing to put something on teh line, other than just yapping on the internet.

You both fail in that respect.

To my eye the most interesting thing in this picture is the rock you pay the gardener to weed whack around. I'm apparently in the minority by I just don't get the car as identity thing, gas or electric. First, given that thousands of other soul searchers have the same car or truck, it seriously lacks imagination. Worse, it just screams that the owners have no place to go because they've cleverly blown the money on car payments and insurance. But they look good in the 'hood, for sure. (BTW, your neighborhood looks wide open, nice.)

Funny how these conservatives are all against government regulation, UNTIL it comes to telling women what they may do with their own bodies.  Then they are all in favor of the government regulating that.

They are also against socialism until a hurricane wipes them out and then they can’t wait to blame the government for not giving them enough money.

I also went all year without getting gas. That also includes the miniscule amount of gas needed for my lawn equipment since I transitioned them (except for a blower) to battery/electric also.

But on top of that, my whole house is electric and I just finished the year (our electrical company ends their year December 10th) with a net kWhr reserve of approximately 750 kWhr. Of course, the electric company screwed me over by only paying $0.02 per kWhr for the reserve. It was a good year that my solar generated more energy than I needed to live and travel in my car.

Edit to add: my car is a 2018 Model S with 762 hp & 487 lb-ft of torque since it seems that people like to post that about their vehicles...

That's pretty impressive.

I want in on the fun.  I drive a Toyota Land Cruiser V-8.  It get's 16 MPG on the highway.

However, I walk as much as possible so I don't run a lot of gasoline through it.  It's easy since I live in one of those Communist 15 minute communities.  When we were kids, we used to call them small towns, or something like that.

Doesn't some guy have a song out called "Try That in a 15 Minute Community?"  I think it was a big deal with the MAGA cult a few months ago.

I'm really confused.

I'm the gardener and I hate that stupid rock.  There used to be a hedgerow there to hide the parked vehicles from the view of the golfers.  Grew like a weed so I hacked it out.  I just tell people it's a weather rock.

The truck is for utility and towing.  It's convenient to load up your yard waste and head to the recycling garage.  The Z was just a fun on a whim purchase a few years back.  It absolutely screams.......old man car.  lol  The boat...you know about  the why's and how's of that kind of stuff.

I agree that many are drowning in car payments to look good.  Those 84 month financing chickens will come home to roost.

I'm not against an EV.  The network in suburbia Ohio isn't as robust as in the cities and I fear what will happen to Reddie Kilowatt if I plug in at home.  How does one figure costs for a home setup?  I'm headed to CA next week and will finally get a chance to drive a Tesla.  Ridden in them many times.  My son suggested wearing a MAGA hat in downtown Mountainview.  I'm not that brave.

As an aside, I'm going to miss this place.  It's the one place I can go to decipher the news and gain access to viewpoints most people today lack.

And John...I have a timeshare jet that I share with a couple hundred different people.

Some big cities are easy to move around too.  I live 5 minutes from a train station, 3 mins. from a bus stop, and easy walking distance each from two groceries, two drug stores, a bank, a Walmart, three restaurants, six bars. And a bike path goes right past my driveway.

I'm a fiscal conservative and that's about it.

Until a fetus is viable, making sure a child is truly wanted is a very good thing.  Ensuring that unwanted chidren are not born is a matter of responsibility, preferably by virtue of birth control.
Abstinence is bad, committed relationships are good, VD is bad.

Unwanted children are more likely to turn into undesirable adults.  Postnatal abortion is thus sometimes indicated when the fetus turns evil, such as with Luigi Mangione.

"Conservative application of government" is generally a good thing, since government is generally a poor servant and a terrible master.

People who wish for committees to make their decisions for them may not be retarded, but it's hard to tell.

BSBD,

Winsor
