Hi Keith,

Who's to say they don't?

Jerry Baumchen

PS) Lots to talk about with this one.

I have an objective question. You word that as though this guy is some nut job coming up with this himself. What do you make of the idea that after hearings and briefings and whistleblowers, he says an admiral is telling him this?

Hi dudeman

I have never heard of any such thing.

Got some link, etc so we can see what is what?

Hi dudeman,

I read anything that I link to.  Must have blown that part into the back of my mind when giving Tim Burchett my attention.

Jerry Baumchen

PS)  Let me add that I usually cannot tell you every detail once I have finished.  If something is really technical & worth a fair amount of my time, I usually will read it 2-3 times.

From the article:

Burchett implied in the wake of a classified briefing on Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP), [don't mean shit]

“When they tell me something’s moving at hundreds of miles an hour underwater, and our capabilities … and these things, this one was, it was large as a football field underwater. And this was a documented case, and … and I have an admiral telling me this stuff,” Burchett said Wednesday.

The movie, "The Abyss" has been rerunning on streaming TV lately.

It's as nutso as everything else he said. Just think about the physics of something the size of a football field moving at hundreds of miles an hour underwater. It'd be boiling the ocean around it.

Science is for losers, even Elon posted earlier this week that Uni turns people into woke mind virus zombies.

I'm not saying that I believe in the UFO stuff - I wouldn't know. Indeed, it seems that a lot of people want to decide for themselves what is true for such things, while I've always been comfortable with the idea that there are things I don't know.

The original post was worded...

My curiosity piqued, I read the linked article, where I found...

Quote

...in the wake of a classified briefing on Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP), also known as UFOs...

...“There are tens of millions of dollars that we’ve spent investigating these things. We’ve had departments tell us that they have recovery units, but they won’t release full reports..."

...following a series of hearings during which multiple whistleblowers alleged...

..."this was a documented case, and … and I have an admiral telling me this stuff"...

This led me to conclude that the original post was misleading, so I asked about it. That's it.

It doesn't lead me to conclude the post was misleading.

The guys claims he was told something utterly insane by the military in a secret briefing. So either the military is giving utterly insane secret briefings to congress, or he made it up.

You use your version of Occam's Razor, I'll use mine.

I don't know what rock you've been under, but it is no secret that the government has been studying this issue for decades. In more recent years, congressional hearings with whistleblower testimony on the subject have been public and televised. The military has publicly released reports complete with video footage taken by fighter pilots of strange things flying around, including orb-like things flying at high speeds over the ocean and dipping in and out of the water. The government says they don't know what these things are. I don't know what they are and neither do you.

Again, none of this means that I believe in space aliens. I'm content to leave it at I don't know, because I Don't Know. You are free to form your own opinions, even your own hopes. But if you think that you can define the answer by sheer force of will, you are deluding yourself.

The tone of the OP post is not supported by it's own linked article. It is refuted by it. Therefore the tone of the OP statement is not only misleading, it is outright deceptive.

Studying reports of oddities and saying "an unknown object the size of a football field was moving hundreds of miles an hour underwater" are two very different things. Stop being so misleading and deceptive.

Nothing in that paragraph relates to anything I've said or implied. Stop being so misleading and deceptive.

That is not true, and it is misleading and deceptive to say so. The guy claims with no evidence  that he was told something utterly insane by the military. It is an absolutely legitimate view to take that he has simply made it up or that his pre-existing bias has caused him to massively misinterpret what he was told.

I mean come on my dude - of all the times to start insisting that a politician must be telling the truth...

Which implies that it is 'nutso' and 'utterly insane' to consider such things as possible. And in the very post you deny saying it, you said it again...

I suppose you could call that an opinion, but it sounds pretty absolute. Indeed, the whole purpose of the OP and your defending it is to denigrate the guy for considering it possible.

That you would say that is face-palmed, head-shaken boggling. The article itself gives his evidence, and I have stated other evidence that is in the public record.

Once again, to be clear, none of this means that I believe in space aliens or alien space craft. But there is enough evidence to at least consider the possibility.

I never said that the guy was telling the truth. I just said that the OP was misleading, which it is.

You, you're just lying.

That’s misleading and deceptive, because you are and you know it.

It’s nutso and insane to believe that something the size of a football field was travelling at hundreds of miles an hour underwater. That has nothing to do with whether you or I believe space aliens exist. Conflating the two is misleading and deceptive.

The article quotes him claiming without evidence that he was told something in secret - the supposed telling being the evidence you refer to. I’m not sure how you’ve got this confused, but him claiming there is evidence that he was given behind closed doors is not actually evidence that he was given evidence. It is absolutely a valid opinion to assume he made that up.

And since you read the article so carefully you will know that he is also saying he believes in things (like the underwater bases in the headline) the military are keeping secret from him. Quotes from the article: “I think there’s a cover-up,” “they won’t release full reports. Everything’s covered up,”

Because you’re so keen on getting things right you’ve probably checked out the source article too where he says “I haven’t been briefed on this, just from what I’m putting together,”

He doesn’t have any evidence for the specific claims he is making. You certainly haven’t provided any public record evidence for the specific claims he is making, that is an outright lie.

Which again, as you well know, is not what the OP is about. It’s like the difference between someone who say ‘I believe in spirituality’ and someone who says ‘angels and demons talk to me every night and try to make me do things’. It is misleading and deceptive to conflate a general belief in the possibility of UFOs with the specific and insane claims that Birchett is making, just as you shouldn’t treat the belief of person two above the same as a general belief in spiritual things.

You, you're just lying.

Everything in this statement is a lie. Your argument is that his claim of secretly being given this evidence means the evidence does exist. You are insisting he is telling the truth about that and it’s a flat out lie to say otherwise.

You know that the OP is not misleading because you know that Birchett is claiming things he definitely has no evidence for, and you know that it’s valid to think he really doesn’t have evidence for things he does claim to have evidence for. At first I think you were just mistaken in saying the OP is misleading and deceptive, but at this point you’re just flat out lying to save face.

So maybe stop digging now?

If you continue to engage Jakee; you will find yourself in a never-ending circular argument.

That’s a lie. You never end up in a circular argument with me - you end up in a place where you cannot justify anything you say, keep insisting you’re right anyway and get angry that I don’t just accept it.

Case in point when I gave you multiple internal military investigations from multiple services all concluding the military was systemically racist and you dismissed it claiming I’d only given you ‘isolated instances’ of racism and blocked me. In other words, it’s not me, it’s you.

And in this particular case, it’s even worse. We already know that in this thread you actually disagree with dudeman and agree with me. You’ve made the same points I have made, so if my argument is circular, what is yours? Further, let’s look at the shortest synopsis of this exchange:

Dudeman: It’s misleading to say he’s made this up when he’s only relaying what the military told him.

Me: This is him specifically being quoted saying he believes in things the military are keeping secret from him.

Kinda looks like more of a straight line than a circle, doesn’t it?

Your relentless pointing out of the falsehoods can become tedious to read. But they are nearly always correct, and I understand why they need to be so granular. Maybe I will be blocked as well for saying so.

I get that, though I would point out that I literally started out this conversation by pointing out to Dudeman that with the given information our opposing opinions on this could both be equally valid, but that wasn't good enough for him.
