Star Crest Skydiving Award 1 #1 Posted January 29 Original Arvin Good Guy, Gary Young SCR #1 passed away January 27, 2025. Gary was the baseman for the for the world's first 8 man star in Arvin CA, October 17, 1965 and 10 man star, July 2,1967 in Taft, CA, as well the world's 1st 12 man star with a 13 man hook up. Gary was 22 when he made his first jump at Lake Piru in 1963. He was a jump master and pilot at then Art Armstrong's Taft School of Parachuting in Taft, CA. He also competed in style and accuracy as well as para- ski. Gary organized several para ski events in Big Bear, CA. He was the team leader for the 1986 para - ski team including the Sarajevo world meet. Doubled as a stuntman for Don Adams in the movie the Nude Bomb. Stunts work includes: CHIPS, Battlestar Galactica, Air Wolf, Schlitz commercials and road a motorcycle out of a CASA aircraft for the Fall Guy, TV series. Gary jumped with Pat Moorehead's California Ariel Circus for years. Hosted the Great Northwest Adventure for many years which are overnight skydiving tours in the Pacific NW. Gary had over 8,000 jumps under his belt, his last jump was Kevin Donnelly's memorial dive in 2011. He was an ambassassador for the International Skydiving Museum & Hall of Fame. Gary had a full and adventurous life with his beloved wife Joyce. He is loved by many and will be deeply missed.
