Canadians are slightly annoyed

He says he wants Canada for our resources. We have no real problem with selling resources to the US. Exporting resources starting with beaver pelts has always been a huge part of our economy. The original free trade agreement was all about ensuring access to our oil reserves from the American point of view. The US is naturally the best and easiest place for us to market our abundant supplies of certain natural resources and we are happy to do business with our neighbours.

What we don't want is medical bankruptcies and regular school shootings. Or a dominant Christian right wing limiting our freedoms. So no thanks to any sort of union. And also, this talk about a 51st state? Ten provinces and 3 territories would never consent to having their power limited to that of one state. It would take a determined military invasion to accomplish that. The US might win if it had to. But it would have to face a conflict that would make the Russia versus Ukraine battle look mild. And you would have to know that we would be sure to take the fight deep into their territory. Something they have not had to face for a very long time.

You mean as the 51st state you want more than 1 electoral vote? Jeez, Canadians are a needy bunch ^.^

We sure as hell won't put up with the bullshit that California does having the same two Senators as Rhode Island, or the God forsaken Alabama.

Yes Keith, but he is the POTUS so it matters.

Pick what's important, Ken. If you're so hair-on-fire this early in the game; you're gonna need an emotional support puppy sooner than later.

Keith, you have no idea the level of anger that is present in Canada right now. My feelings are mild compared to those I have heard. Your orange hero has done the impossible. United Canada.

You know that America is fucked when the President threatening the sovereignty of another nation isn’t important and is treated with the same respect as a Borat movie.

The Onion is no longer funny as they can’t come up with outlandish enough headlines. The Dictator movie is now a documentary of the US. Possibly one of the most powerful members of the current US Government literally drew inspiration from the movie the dictator and brags about it https://www.space.com/spacex-starship-design-sacha-baron-cohen

Hi Ken,

Re:  My feelings are mild compared to those I have heard.

About 25 yrs ago, I was visiting a friend in Alberta.  He was telling me about how they were convinced that, eventually, the US would invade Canada to get to the oil shale resources.

This is not new to me.

Exactly. Americans just don't seem to get it. They have become immune.

America doesn't really need to do that. I mean sure, if they had to they would. But it's so much easier just to buy it like from any other country. It's just a commodity and we are a western capitalist nation.

Look, Ken, don't be blaming Keith: he's only got one vote not to give.

You sure it's not over the new capital gains tax? C'mon, Ken. It's just political noise. Nobody's gonna take Canada.

And close to 90 million American Patriots like you didn't vote for any presidential candidate in the last election and who, like it or not, now own their fair share of what you calmly refer to as political noise. Expect a crap load of that sentiment here, and likely anywhere else you are outside of your safe zone, for a long time to come. FYI, by dismissing our weak sister worries you sounded just like Brent in that post.

Thing is dude, you said that about people who thought Trump's idea was the permanent relocation of Palestinians out of Gaza. And he has since made it explicitly, undeniably clear that he really does want to ethnically cleanse Gaza by permanently relocating all the Palestinians.

So it's kinda rich for you to imply that other people are being naive when you're going out of your way to not understand what's actually going on.

There were two losers to chose from and 90 milion of us chose not to choose either, whereas you apparently chose to vote for the biggest loser.

You need not speak for Gowlerk; he's perfectly capable of scratching my eyes out on his own.

Lame in spades. You had your shot at being a conservative voice of reason before you pretty pretend voted in your mind. I did vote for my nations next leader and now have the earned voice to talk about it good or bad. You are just another one of the 90+ million who should be as silent as your non vote deserves while the rest of us who actually gave a shit work the problem.

EDIT: Joe, I'm more than happy to discuss the issues with you. Let's stick to those.

Sure, but know that as a non-voter for President this time around, because it all didn't fit nicely into whatever pre-conceived happy place plan that suited you on game day, your views on the current situation with our Nation and our President are substantially less valid to me than someone, anyone in fact, who voted for Trump. At least they weren't being conscientious objectors.

Hi Joe,

I'm with you.  Just not in that verbiage.

IMO anyone who did not vote should not discuss the results.

Again, I voted independent.

Good luck on getting a pass with that. This will go down as the most consequential, and likely the most harmful to our nation, election in our lifetimes and possibly beyond. Reality: if you didn't vote for Harris or Trump you didn't vote. Bottom line: democracy isn't for voyeurs. I mean seriously, as a thinking person how can you justify abrogating such an important duty when the impact of the past election was so clear? Are you truly at peace with your example? Can you imagine standing in front of a 10th grade class and explaining to them why sitting out important elections is the right and responsible thing to do on occasion?

Hi Keith,

Thanks for clearing that up.

While I might not use Joe Weber's verbiage, I do believe that any vote for other than Harris was a vote for Trump.  Not directly, but indirectly.

We will just have to ride out Trump 2.0.

Well.....maybe more than slightly. As the dotard spits on the agreement he made a few years ago (and declared the most beautiful trade deal ever) my fellow countrymen are losing it completely. I have never seen this level of anger toward our neighbour before. Booing The Star Spangled Banner is a little over the top, but it is happening at sports events all over the nation. What can I say? Sorry, we don't actually hate all y'all, but could you do something about the madman and his bullshit please.

Hi Ken,

Just came across this:  Canada vows swift retaliation to 'unjustified' Trump tariffs

IMO Canada should just stop all imports of anything with a Trump tariff.  Then, let's see who squeals the loudest.

One of your PM's, Doug Ford said that he would cut the electrical power to a number of states in the US upper mid-west.  Doing that at this time of yr will get your attention.

Jerry Baumchen

PS)  Forgot to add:  Asked in recent days about the threat of retaliation from his trade partners, Trump said: "I don't mind."

Well, it is not his pipes that will freeze.
