I think in many cases the laws go too far. For example our warranty laws are based on product price and brand positioning and not time limited as such. So a $2000 iPhone is expected to last longer than a $100 no name brand. For example I’ve had a 3 year old Samsung washing machine break down, well outside the one year manufacturer warranty period.
