kdneo 0 #1 December 19, 2005 Alright, let me list my experiance first off. I have a total of 1 tandem jump about a year ago. I have a total of 70 mins of tunnel time in Eloy, and have practiced everything for AFF except a barrel roll and back flip. Can I get thru all 8 jumps in 2/3 days??? I have my coach jumps figured out as 2 of my friends are coaches, so I can just just paying for thier lift tickets. Anyone have any advice or anything like that?? kdneo 0 #4 December 19, 2005 I am about 2 hours from Eloy, in Yuma AZ, so I will be driving up there to jump!
daniel_owen_uk 0 #5 December 19, 2005 I did 20 minutes of tunnel time and did AFF in 3 days. If your canopy control is fine and you get the weather, you will have no problems. kelpdiver 2 #6 December 19, 2005 just don't jump on a schedule - do as many jumps per day as feels good. Even with tunnel time, I was pretty jacked up after 2. Often wind decided for me, but I doubt I'd ever have elected to do more than 3.
AFFI 0 #7 December 19, 2005 If mother nature allows making 7 student jumps should be easy depending on how you handle all the excitment, mentally and physically. The DZ I work at has a 20 jump program (2 tandems and 18 solo's) and some have finished it in 5 jumping days. Tunnel time is nice for freefall skills but as mentioned in an earlier post - EP's and Canopy Piloting are paramount.Mykel AFF-I10 Skydiving Priorities: 1) Open Canopy. 2) Land Safely. 3) Don’t hurt anyone. 4) Repeat…
twibbles 0 #8 December 19, 2005 Got 20 min in the tunnel and finished AFF in 3 days. 5 AFF jumps on day one. It can be done, but do it at a pace you're comfortable with, there's a lot to take in. Just remember you have the rest of your life to skydive, so what's the rush? Be safe, ask questions, buy beer, and have fun! Eugene . "In the beginning the Universe was created. skydiverbry 0 #9 December 20, 2005 You should do well, just remember there is a little difference between tunnel time and actual skydive. It's a small difference but cuold have a BIG IMPACT on the outcome of the jump. It's a small thing called Earth coming at you at around 120 mph! Really good luck you should do fine. RossDagley 0 #10 December 21, 2005 With that amount of time in the tunnel, altitude awareness will be an issue during AFF. FORCE yourself to check your alti RELIGIOUSLY. You're used to 2 or 2.5 minute sessions in the tunnel, and your minds 'accepted' that. You'll get 30-45 seconds during your AFF dives - that takes some adjusting. Yes it can be done in a short timescale (did mine in 4 days) but you'll lag behind a little in other essential skills like canopy control and exits. The best rate to pregress is one at which you and your instructors are most comfortable. If you can, get canopy coaching as soon as possible after completing AFF. skyyhi 0 #11 December 23, 2005 I believe that Eloy's 1st jump course is 7 jumps so I would say that AFF would take you three days if the weather cooperates, but you could verify that with anyone who regularly jumps there. Take care and have a blast. . .the tunnel time will only help you with stability in freefall at this point. . .canopy control will be the place to focus all your efforts. . .and exits out of the otter. . .________________________________________ Take risks not to escape life… but to prevent life from escaping. ~ A bumper sticker at the DZ FGF #6 Darcy
