A Public Apology To Don and Louise CROSS Skydive nagambie

I hereby offer a full and unreserved public apology to the owners and CI at Skydive Nagambie in Australia. I made a lot of dumb comments on here. The fact is they run a terrific drop zone with expert instructors at reasonable prices.

I once said I got used as a cash cow by doing so many tandems (19) . That was absolute rubbish as it was my choice to do them. and with the cost structures in Australia .. reasonably priced. I even did a second jump on the same day (many times) at a discount rate.

By any measure I have been a fool and trashed some thing I loved doing. Don and Louise Cross and all the crew at Skydive nagambie are fine and honorable people and I admitt full fault by my actions.

My visits there were the best of times. What a fucking idiot I am for messing it up. Something I feel the shame of every single day .

Full Apology offered I will jump (excuse the pun) through any hoop to make amends,

Nothings changed BOB Skydive Nagambie was and still is an excellent DZ with good people. I made some bad mistakes by some dumb posts on here about gear and stuff. Don the CI at Skydive Nagambie (a highly respected figure ) banned me from AFF. He was only thinking of my welfare. Idiot me got angry at the ban and slagged off on these forums.

Don and Louise seem unwillingly to accept my apology (and who can blame them.. certainly not me)

All my fault and I will have to live with the consequences. I do not know what else i can do. I reaped what I sowed I wish you all nothing but the best

Hey Greg, I am really curious how someone gets banned from AFF? Please explain if you don't mind. Just a newbie thats wondering-thanks

Hi prob alot of ways to get banned from AFF. My way.. firstly I did 3 AFFs at Nagambie (with great instructors etc) Everything went fine on all jumps. But being the dickhead that I am I kept endlessly asking about safety issues and kept asking and promoting Skyhook RSLs. (like who I am with such low jump numbers to do that!)

Anyway kept on doing it and finally Don the CI at Naggambie had had enough and advised me that AFF was no longer an option for me. I got kinda mad and wrote some dumb things on the Aussie forums , The Aussie skydive is a fairly small community and once you are "one the nose" its hard going somewhere else.

I was very lucky a magnificent CI called Ralph at Austrtalian skydive gave me 2 free AFF jumps to continue on so i did that but i cannot see myself going back as one skydiver there hates my guts so out of respect for ralphs dropzone and in the interest of harmony at his Dz it would be awkward to return.

I also upset some lovely females on the Aussie forums by saying a blue comment about woman being accepted easier into the skydiving world than men. I did not mean anything sexist by it just repeating warnings I had read in the woman forum on drop zone.com A storm followed that comment (I tried to apologise to no avail) I still wonder how I could have been so stupid as my return to jumping in 2008 to 2012 was the bestest of times. BUT I STUFFED IT ALL UP

I will just do a tandem or 2 interstate or overseas where I am not known


Its all a bit weird cause I am usually a quiet and reserved person but some how grew another personality on line. Still scrastching my head how I did it. Thats my story. thanks for reading GW

Having done almost all of my jumps at Nagambie, I find it hard to believe that it was just that you asked too many questions about safety issues...

I'm constantly asking Don and Louise (and the instructors) about safetly procedures, different types of gear, best practices etc.

Don and Lou wouldn't turn people away just for being concerned about their own safety....

Learning when to speak and when to shut-up is a lifelong test for most. A sincere apology usually goes a long way with me, I hope it also will with the people you are trying to reach.

Most people want to get on with each other. Have you physically gone to the DZ, either very early or late in the day (less likely to get interrupted), offered an apology face to face including a handshake, and offered to do whatever it takes to learn without being seen to criticise or question their expert advice?

Hi it was made pretty clear via email earlier in the year that I was not welcome back. I just thought on the 12 month aniversary of me last jumping there (yet another tandem) I would try an apology again.

However the silence is deafening. I tried my best and the apology is sincere. I do not give up easy and will try again at a later date.

Between you and me I have not got the balls to show up in person (it would just be too awkard) although I would gladly offer the apology face to face if I thought their was a chance of it being accepted.

Some folk cannot be tolerated by others and I obviously fall into that catergory there.\

I have accepted that my time in the sport is over... I am happy I made the 66 jumps including 19 tandems and 3 AFFs at Nagambie

No point continuing this thread what is done is done you all stay safe and do a few jumps for me

Greg, that is the issue - You need to go there and apologise face to face and you need to be prepared to take what ever is said to you!
Man up, and apologise face to face. I dont think I would accept a virtual apology - I want to see that it is sincere, and that is only done by looking into the face of whoever is apologizing.

Good advice Ken. I have happy memories go to you tube greg demon aff 1 and aff 2. There is a happy person at a happy pro DZ before I self destructed.

No one can ever take those jumps away from me.

Or maybe he just needs to let it be. There have been multiple comments on various threads, plus whatever personal contact he has sent them. trying to air this out in front if so many other people probably isn't helping his cause.

i dont know any of the people involved, or anything about the situation other than what has been posted in threads i have been reading, but it comes across (to me) as a 'poor me, im trying to aplogize and they won't let me.' A sincere apology isnt about making the person that offers it feel better. if you have offered a sincere apology via email/in person whatever, then drop it now. if they choose to reply or give you a second chance, then that is their choice, but just because you have offered an apology doesnt mean they have to.

OK I am letting it be. It should be noted I was informed of the AFF ban via email not face to face. I then turned up for 2 more tandems a few weeks later (around 12 months ago). I said hello to the CI and shook his hand but was quickly fobbed off. On weather hold so had another attempt to approach him but he saw me coming and walked off. NO I WAS NOT SEEING SOMETHING THAT WAS NOT THERE ... I can read body language pretty well (training from job I do) and I realised he was not interested in talking. Then Mitch crew gave me an absolute filthy look in the plane so I caught on that I was finished there.

So for the first time ever after the 2 dooms I walked out.... every visit before that I always went and seeked him out and thanked him and his wife for having me for the day (19 tandems)

So no point in turning up in person. I tried this apology online in one vain last hope that it might work... it did not !! I have tried nothing more can be done His drop zone his choice of course

I wish Don and his wife Louise and all the crew at naggas nothing but the best !!!!

Greg, best of luck man. I am new to the sport and have only done tunnel so far. I know that people tend to hold grudges but hopefully someone reminds them of what they are having you miss out on.

I'm planning on doing my first tandem soon and I hope that they change their minds eventually. Maybe try having someone speak with them on your behalf at this point.
