kitfitton 0 #1 November 1, 2012 Hello everyone, I'm having a fairly quiet day at work and so have begun thinking about where my next holiday might be. I've always been keen to do a road trip across / around the US and I got thinking that it would be good to combine this with a tour of the best DZs in the country. This is still likely to be a couple of years off due to money and jumping experience (I only have 70 jumps and would want to be more experienced, so that I'm able to turn up and more confidently get involved in local load organising). However, I was wondering if anyone had done something similar and could provide me with suggested routes or just a list of the best DZs for visitors. I'd be looking to spend at least a month on the trip, just to give you an idea of how long I would have. And for reference, my other interests are mountain biking and exploiting my English accent to woo American girls, so I'd be keen to fit these in as well. Any help / advice would be much appreciated, Kit
GLIDEANGLE 1 #2 November 1, 2012 http://temptphate01.tumblr.com/ This woman just finished a trip to jump in all 50 states. I bet her story could be helpful to you.The choices we make have consequences, for us & for others!
Southern_Man 0 #3 November 1, 2012 A month is not going to be long enough to get around the US, unless you want to drive the whole time and barely jump. A month is long enough to do a good regional trip. Which region would be best would vary depending on time of year. You could only do a Midwest trip (Chicago, Lost Prairie, Couch Freaks) in the summer. A Southereast trip or a texas-arizona tirp you could do all year round but would be better NOT in the summer."What if there were no hypothetical questions?" davelepka 4 #4 November 1, 2012 It all depends on the time of year. The US is a bog place, and the seasons have a lot to do with where the 'best' DZs are. Ask this question again when you can throw out some dates of travel. Then you can look at the weather and what events will be taking place, and come up with a good route.
