First Rig

Dear Dropzone members,

I am a new skydiver and need a rig to begin. I would like any suggestions of a decent rig for someone 173cm tall 155lbs. I do not know what type of wear or damage to avoid in a purchase. If anyone can please help me decide on the proper gear please respond!

First, what size have you been jumping on your student jumps?

It's always a good thing to ask your dropzone rigger what he/she thinks is apropriate for you. Blue skies and a good skydiving career. :-)

Have you made any jumps yet? Are you licensed or well on your way to a license?

If the answer to either of those questions is "no," relax. Do your student jumps, use your dropzone's gear (the rental of which is generally included in the price of some if not all of your jumps).

Just to re-iterate what everyone else has said, you need to give us more information about your progression. Filling out your account profile would be helpful.

After which, we would be able to give you better advice.
However, the best people to ask would be the instructors at your dropzone who have followed your progression as a student. They know more about your skills and needs than we do on the forums. So don't be shy to ask for your instructors' help. Also, take any advice you get on the internet with a grain of salt.
