AZskies 0 #1 September 15, 2012 Hello, I just picked up A Tony R-bird for a great price that I couldn't pass up. I have over 450 skydives in the last year and a half. 50-75 of them being in my Phoenix fly tracking suit. 0 wing suit jumps. My question is... Is a Tony R-bird suitable for a FFC?? and How different are the characteristics of the T-bird Vs. the R-bird??
Shredex 0 #2 September 15, 2012 TonySuit recomments 25+ Wingsuit jumps before using the R-bird. Reference: http://www.tonywingsuits.com/products.html
pms07 3 #3 September 15, 2012 No. Tony's site also describes the R Bird as "for the advanced wingsuit pilot" and that should answer your question. I don't think you'll find any responsible wingsuit coach that recommmends the R Bird for a FFC...
LloydDobbler 2 #4 September 16, 2012 ^^ What all of the folks above said. You can always rent an Intro suit, or find someone with a Phoenix2/3/Shadow/Acro to borrow from, and build up to 25 jumps pretty quickly. But as it stands now, it's akin to buying a Katana for your first canopy: it's not a Velocity or a JVX, but it's still a bit much to handle when you're still learning to fly. Good luck!Signatures are the new black.
