jonno 0 #1 June 3, 2012 Iv'e just found myself at a loose end this week and the weather here in the UK is rubbish . Iv'e not jumped Florida in the summer. What can I expect? Is it worth a transatlantic flight? Is the weather any more predicable / unpredictable this time of year? Are the DZ's likely to be slow ? Just asking ? tkhayes 348 #2 June 3, 2012 Skydive City in Z-Hills is a fair bit slower int eh summer, we even close Tues/Wed. But we did fly 22 loads today in the Otter and still have great weekends and sometimes busy (6-10 loads) weekdays. So yes, we are flying, RW organizing, freeflying, wingsuits, tandems, AFF, the bar is open every night, the sun is shining and it is f****ng hot and humid
BillyVance 34 #3 June 4, 2012 Quote it is f****ng hot and humid This is primarily the reason Florida's main skydiving season runs from mid-fall to mid-spring. But if you don't mind the heat and humidity, you should get plenty of jumps in. Rick 67 #6 June 4, 2012 We were jumping all day yesterday. It is a bit on the warm side on the ground but the temp is perfect at 13.5. You can't be drunk all day if you don't start early!
billeisele 130 #7 June 5, 2012 FL is too hot come to Skydive Carolina, we flew 118 loads on Saturday, not exactly a normal day but we are a turbine DZ with a super vibe and a great place to learn to skydive fly into Charlotte NC and we are 30 minutes away Give one city to the thugs so they can all live together. I vote for Chicago where they have strict gun laws.
shorehambeach 9 #8 June 5, 2012 Took a last minute flight last month to finish AFF in Florida. Virgin from Gatwick. Hire car to Deland. Brilliant DZ (Ok the only one i've jumped) Hot sunshine. Great $/£ rate. Rained since I got home. No brainer! Steve (on Shoreham Beach)

You get to meet real southerners who are super friendly. Very different feel to Florida (I prefer it) US Airways fly Gatwick to Charlotte. AA, BA and delta all have direct flights to Atlanta from Heathrow or Gatwick.Experienced jumper - someone who has made mistakes more often than I have and lived. danornan 79 #10 June 6, 2012 Oh yea, much cooler in the Carolina's...... We definitely have the humidity, but many times it is "cooler" on the West (best) coast of Florida then many places up North! By a long shot, unless you are in the mountains...Dano
Ron 10 #11 June 6, 2012 Having lived in GA, FL, and NC.... In the summer they all suck and are hot unless you are in the mountains. I'd head to FL..... There are many DZ's to choose from and most are as large and as busy as the largest DZ in either NC or GA."No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers,
wolfriverjoe 1,523 #12 June 6, 2012 Just a thought... If you can get a cheap flight into Chicago O"Hare, Skydive Chicago is just a short drive west. Big DZ, runs during the week, lots of fun. Florida will be hot and humid, this is the beginning of rainy season, so the afternoon thundershowers are an issue. Illinois is not quite as hot and nowhere near as humid. Afternoon T-storms are still a possiblity, but not as often."There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit."
