Liemberg 0 #26 April 22, 2012 Once in a lifetime I managed to leave a perfectly good airplane in midair with completely loose legstraps. (There's something to say for thread-through.) I ended up with a reservecontainer almost above my head an two barely reachable toggles. My chest strap was right under my nose. We are all sinners. I was amazed that I could not keep up with the Monkey after the numbers become flashed then covered. Try and see if you can. Andy9o8 2 #31 April 23, 2012 Quote Quote Quote A couple of good looking girls and a desire to jump asap is a really poor excuse for ending up dead. Women ARE sin. Ain't it da truth! As a kid, I was a baseball nut and I had made my mind up early that I was going to do everything I could for a shot at the pros. I learned, I practiced my ass off. I immersed myself in baseball. Bobby Richardson's sister lived two doors down from us and every winter Bobby would visit her for a month and I would pester that poor man religiously to teach me and help me. That man had the patience of a saint. My dad, being an ex football player had several friends in the pro sports world and again, I would pester them to teach me anything and everything they could about baseball....Pete Rose (well for only one day but still...), Max McGhee, Charlie Green, Willie Puddin'head Jones, to name a few. I was on a roll. One of the best in whatever league I was in. Then I discovered women. Now I'm a DZ bum. I been run down Lord, I been lied to And I don't know why I let that mean woman make me out a fool She took all my money Wrecked my new car Now she's with one of my good-time buddies, Drinkin' in some cross-town bar Sometimes I feel Sometimes I feel Like I been Tied to the whippin' post Tied to the whippin' post Good Lord, I feel like I'm dyin'

JohnMitchell 16 #33 April 23, 2012 Quote A couple of very sweet girls asked if I wanted to do a hop and pop with them. -----But I ended up grabbing my gear (packed by someone else), stuffing my pilot chute into the BOC as fast as I could, and running to the plane, while kitting up. I normally do a full main and reserve pin check - this got skipped in the rush. =========In fact the 'plan' was for a 4 way if we got to 5k, not to jump if we couldn't get 3.5k and hop and pops if in between. -------- We ended up doing hop and pops with me out last. I've seen stupider stuff. I think a good skill set in our sport is learning how to get your rig checked and on your bod quickly, because there will be days when you are rushed (esp. if you ever get a damn instructor's rating.). Why wasn't the BOC packed already? Was your AAD on? And I feel it only takes seconds to check the pins and 3 rings. I hope you just ignore the yelling long enough to do that next time. Staying in the plane if you can't get 3500? I hope those women won't mind me crawling out over them. Thanks for posting this.
Scrumpot 1 #34 April 23, 2012 Quotethat is one smart monkey! Not really. ANY monkey could do this, once they are taught the ordering association of each SINGLE DIGITS #'s shapes. Doesn't mean they know what the #'s themselves mean. This is not intelligence. This is raw, regurgitive "operative memory". That's all. Big difference. Get into double-digits and there is no way for the monkey then to discern, or REASON the sequential ordering further, like rather intelligence (or being "smart" as you refer to it - which is NOT what this monkey is doing) allows us to do. He had suggested that leaving the BOC unpacked preserved the spandax (I put a thread about it in the gear and rigging section).Experienced jumper - someone who has made mistakes more often than I have and lived.
