tigra 0 #26 October 19, 2005 I agree with you on pretty much everything you said. Sorry, though, I can't help it, the "Oh, I'm such a GIRL" mentality/ excuse makes me sick. Own up to your mistakes and learn from them, be happy that you're able to. Leave the excuses at home.
Silverchic 0 #27 October 20, 2005 Ooooopps - very sorry tigra it's an old joke habit that I forget I'm saying sometimes. How about - I had a brain malfunction because I'm and IDIOT! A really big idiot... =) Right Jase? But at least my canopy didn't get hurt! Didn't even have to cut the tree down. It's very embarrassing so please don't anybody laugh too hard. It's one of those things that happen every now and then and when it happens you kick yourself so hard and say "WHY didn't I think of that?" Coming in to land on a standard set up and realised that I was going to undershoot the target (new canopy that I am still working out speeds etc) and that I was heading for the middle of a tree/bush. There was a clear area next to it but I didn't want to land crosswind so I tried to aim to just miss the bush without being too crosswind. It didn't occur to me that I could do half an S and not lose too much height to land in the middle of the clear area.... *cringe and wait for the smacks to start* I'm still thinking way too much in the student frame of mind that you don't turn under 3-500ft unless you need to S off to lose height. How is it that we put man on the moon before we figured out it would be a good idea to put wheels on luggage? What does being female have to do with anything? Don't you think morons would be offended then? If you want people to be politically correct, you should be as well. udder 0 #29 October 20, 2005 I've recently given up wearing underwear(far too expensive) and I find the tone of your post demeaning to all skydivers who dont wear underwear"In one way or the other, I'm a bad brother. "The Low Down On Low Turns" by Scott Miller Read it... Study it... Learn how to do Flat Turns, if you do not you will have learned nothing. You only have 25 jumps so dont beat yourself up, learn from your mistakes and take measures that will keep the canopy overhead. Once again: "The Low Down On Low Turns" by Scott Miller You know how to use the internet, go to google and do a search, it is easy to find. If you take the incentive it is probably on DZ.com...Mykel AFF-I10 Skydiving Priorities: 1) Open Canopy. 2) Land Safely. 3) Don’t hurt anyone. 4) Repeat…
Silverchic 0 #31 October 20, 2005 My main problem is the last few seconds (the ones that can kill you) - I'm shocking at landing....in 25 jumps I've had 3 stand up landings and 1 was on my tandem! My set ups are usually good - am a little unaccurate at the moment because of a new canopy though. How is it that we put man on the moon before we figured out it would be a good idea to put wheels on luggage? Silverchic 0 #32 October 20, 2005 By the way tigra - the silly female thing wasn't an excuse or an insult - it was a factual statement. I am female and you have to admit it was a pretty silly thing to do. And the "should be blonde" thing was just a joke - sorry if I offended you. And I have another month off to think about how silly it was! =)How is it that we put man on the moon before we figured out it would be a good idea to put wheels on luggage? Silverchic 0 #33 October 20, 2005 AFFI - thanks very much for that - I have just read it and it is extremely informative! To start with I did prefer to fly in half brakes and have since trained myself out of it. Now I might give it a go again! =)How is it that we put man on the moon before we figured out it would be a good idea to put wheels on luggage?

Now I might give it a go again! =) start by doing it high that way you know the slow flight charectreristics of the canopy... then you can apply it low. Both Scott Miller and Brian Germain hold canopy flight courses, find one that is near you and take it, they are both wonderfui teachers. Silverchic 0 #37 October 21, 2005 I'd go the jump tickets too...more value for money! Underwear is overrated (but since I still have enough money for both I might keep wearing them!) =) Gives me an extra layer of clothing for when I crash land...How is it that we put man on the moon before we figured out it would be a good idea to put wheels on luggage?
