guineapiggie101 0 #1 February 10, 2012 How quickly can one usually get a custom made jumpsuit for a reasonable cost? I am NOT doing solo jumps again. After giving a 15 minute try in the tunnel to do backflying and stuff, I want to continue. My coach and I did determine that it would be better if I had my own jumpsuit. I also want a suit that I can use on my tandem jumps too (since I am not going to give that up either). What should I look for in a suit, that can be used for both tunnel freeflying AND tandems? I am leaning towards Liquid Sky. It seems most tunnel flyers are sporting those suits and I like the color scheme.
Muffie 0 #2 February 10, 2012 I have a multi-speed suit that I found was really useful in the tunnel. I was able to zip up completely when doing belly but unzip the arms and legs to get more drag when learning sit-fly. I think it took about a month to get IIRC, but I was local, too, so able to drop by and get measured and all.
Southern_Man 0 #3 February 10, 2012 QuoteHow quickly can one usually get a custom made jumpsuit for a reasonable cost? Reasonable is in the eye of the beholder and there may be some trade-off between what suit you want, how quickly you can get it and what it costs. I will say, though, that I bought a Bev Suit and it was made in a little over 2 weeks after I place my order. I paid $20 for a "rush" order (4 weeks) but not $40 for a "super rush" order. The overall price was towards the lower end of the scale and Bev has a good reputation, but it was an RW suit, not a freefly suit. I've been very happy with mine. I think Liquid Sky may have a longer wait time but I personally have not ordered from them."What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
guineapiggie101 0 #4 February 10, 2012 Bev suit might be another idea. Tunnel isn't that bad after all. I guess I will ask the store when I am at the DZ tomorrow
beowulf 1 #5 February 10, 2012 What does reasonable cost mean to you? Liquid Sky suits are on the higher end of the cost scale for freefly suits. I think it's worth it. I prefer Vertical suits. Great jumpsuits are not cheap.
guineapiggie101 0 #6 February 10, 2012 I don't want to spend more than $400 on a jumpsuit, esp since I don't plan on doing solo skydiving anytime soon again. Not getting booties or grippers on anything like that. Just a plain simple suit with an electric purple and grey color scheme.
beowulf 1 #7 February 10, 2012 LiquidSky tunnel suits start at $435. The LiquidSky Freefly skydiving suits start at $335. Tunnel suits are built stronger and generally cost more. Remember that is with out any options.

guineapiggie101 0 #9 February 12, 2012 I ended up ordering a freely Liquid Sky jumpsuit with very little added stuff, for around $425. Color scheme is purple and grey with purple and white accents. Lead time is about 3-4 months :(
beowulf 1 #10 February 12, 2012 I have never owned a Liquid Sky suit, but the ones I have seen look great and the friends that I know that have them swear by them. Good for you, it will make a difference in your tunnel flying.
waveoff5500 0 #11 February 13, 2012 i ordered a liquid sky suit a bit ago, still waiting for it but they are awesome. did you get a tunnel suit? from what i hear they are designed a bit more sturdy because the tunnel is harder on them. hope it works out!"its just a normal day at the dropzone until its not" 1653
guineapiggie101 0 #12 February 13, 2012 I didn't get a tunnel suit. I got a freefly suit. I still plan on doing tandems AND tunnel and didn't want too heavy/bulky of a suit. I can't wait till I get my suit, but the 3-4 month lead time sucks. I know they are very popular :)
