jrsample 0 #1 December 7, 2011 I see that the Twin Otter -100 has a shorter nose and the -200 is said to have better baggage handling per Wikipedia. Is there any difference in the size of the doors for jumping? Is the -200 door larger or the same as the -100? JR

Skydive2 1 #3 December 7, 2011 The "better baggage handling" is referring to the fact that the -200 series Otter has a longer noise, which is used as additional cargo storage. There are still some -100 series floating around with the shorter stubby noise....

If a 200 or 300 series was ordered (from the DeHavilland factory) with a float kit, it probably has a short nose. All land-based 200 and 300 series have long noses, because the baggage compartment in the longer nose helps balance baggage aft of the cargo door. CAP floats are the original OEM float install and can be found in the Twin Otter manuals, but can only be installed with the short nose. Wipline 13000 floats can be installed with the long nose. vpjr 18 #8 December 14, 2011 The short nose is Al and much lighter than the fiberglass long nose. Better climb times for Skydivers.
