There were people sneaking up and jumping at night, riding bicycles over the edge, jumping with pogo sticks, leaving trash all over the place and generally acting like assholes. They made no attempt to go along with the program and after 6 weeks the Rangers had enough and closed it down. The bandit jumps has continued off and on since then. danielcroft 2 #78 October 7, 2011 There's talk on paragliding and hang gliding forums that they're going to try to cut those guys out too. It's a shame because it could so easily have been avoided. I don't BASE and don't plan on it but it sucks that people who'd like to (many of whom would do so responsibly) don't get the opportunity to jump something as amazing as Half Dome, El Cp or Angel's Landing. There are trash cans and porta-potties on top of Angel's Landing, I feel like there'd more likely be a viable solution today than there was back in the day.
