davelepka 4 #6 September 26, 2011 I agree, and would also add that no amount of looking good will cover up your shit flying. You can dress up like a skydiver, you can hang out with skydivers, and you can act like a skydiver, but once you get in the air your skills will show though all of that, and it will be immediately apparent what kind of skydiver you are. davelepka 4 #8 September 26, 2011 Having fun is a seperate issue, and not what we're talking about in this thread. It's about looks and the way they relate to flying skills. Way to miss the point.

Way to miss the point. nope no point missed. unless you're competing, flying skills are relative. if you're safe and having fun regardless of how good or bad you look you're still "flying good". But like i said I tend to not have a skygodly attitude in regards to "skills"You are not now, nor will you ever be, good enough to not die in this sport (Sparky) My Life ROCKS! How's yours doing? billvon 3,006 #10 September 26, 2011 >if you're safe and having fun regardless of how good or bad you look you're still "flying good". Well, if you never see the other person on the skydive, they may not be flying so good.
rnicks 0 #11 September 26, 2011 Quote....and it will be immediately apparent what kind of skydiver you are. Well that's a pretty terrible thing to say. I usually enjoy reading your posts. Usually you contribute your in depth knowledge in a positive way for the less experienced to learn. But this statement is extremely judgemental. If looking good (I'm assuming VB means matching gear) is important to some people, who cares? Newer jumpers are gonna fly like shit. It's a given. Some experienced are gonna fly like shit too. And you know what? That's OK!!! Not everybody will have the ability to fly at the average rate their peers do. But if they wanna look good doing it, more power to them. billvon 3,006 #12 September 26, 2011 >the guy's a pretty good freeflier, and he doesnt give a shit about color-coordination.. >he just likes flying! Ah, that's my misunderstanding. When a belly flyer says "he looks good on that exit" they're generally referring to their presentation, body position, timing etc. They're not referring to what they are wearing, which is generally a black nylon jumpsuit. I think freeflyers are more into the whole color coordination thing. In belly terms "looking like shit and flying good" is a reference to someone who has a bizarre body position but flies really well. (Dan BC, who has a broken neck, is a good example of someone who flies really oddly but can fly circles around most people.) "Looking good and flying like shit" is most often used for tunnel flyers on bigways, who have perfect body position as they go sailing past the base.
