A collision at Crosskeys....1 injured, 1 fatal.....experienced jumpers again....

In recent weeks there have also been a couple more serious low turn injuries with broken bones, one in Texas and one in Wisconsin. I don't know details other than that they happened.

When I started this tread it never occurred to me that it will never run out of material to post. That’s really sad. To answer a question I was asked on the subject, yes skydivers are that fucking dumb to learn.

In all fairness the latest incident highlights the risks and dangers of being on the sunset load. It reminds us all that on "special" jumps extra vigilance is required.

Sunset jumps are no more or less dangerous than any other jumps.....

And Michael.....I think this post will be revived every time there is an open canopy injury or death....

It will prolly be around for some time to come....[:/]

Sorry to disagree, but twilight is known to be a dangerous time to be driving a car due to the reduced visibility. I know that jumping has differences to driving, but I don't see how reduced contrast/visibility doesn't add an extra dimension to a jump.

Yeah but there's a thousand factors that go into it ~ wind, fatigue, dehydration, inattention...on & on.

Regardless, the idea is the same...jump, fly, land in one piece.

We have to recognize any and all factors that may work against the landing in one piece thing and make the adjustments...for some people that means not making that jump.

But if in fact you make that decision to go, you need to deal...

Yes a 'night' jump is different, but it's also the same. ;)
