JALUV2 0 #1 January 15, 2011 Getting ready to order a new canopy, what do you guys/gals think about this design? Just wondering how it might look in real life. Any thoughts?
trig78 0 #2 January 15, 2011 That's ZPX right? Check out the attached pic to see what the colors look like for real. I saved it a while ago from one of the threads about ZPX.
JALUV2 0 #3 January 15, 2011 Thanks, I did use that post to base my decisions, I am wondering how the red ribs will show and what people think of this choice other than it might be hard to find after a cutaway.
likestojump 3 #4 January 15, 2011 it will show up nice. here's a silver canopy with red crossbraces. It's the closest I can find :)

Andy9o8 2 #6 January 15, 2011 Quoteit will show up nice. I was gonna suggest the opposite: that it will be hard for other jumpers under canopy to see.
GLIDEANGLE 1 #7 January 15, 2011 Gven that canopy collisions are a leading cause of death in skydiving... I suggest that you pick LOUD colors which contrast with both the ground and the sky.The choices we make have consequences, for us & for others!
petejones45 0 #8 January 15, 2011 Aren't swooping landings the leading cause?Look out for the freefly team, Smelly Peppers. Once we get a couple years more experience we will be a force to be reckoned with in the near future! BLUES!
dragon2 2 #9 January 15, 2011 Quote Aren't swooping landings the leading cause? Not swooping as such, but low turns in general, plus canopy-collisions, are the 2 leading causes for skydiving fatalities these days. My Vengeance is magenta + yellow, hard to say you didn't see me fly I jumped a purple/black/silver Diablo for 10 jumps and had a couple different people come up to me saying that canopy was very very hard to see. So, I tend to favor yellow, pink, red, orange these days. ciel bleu, Saskia

virgin-burner 1 #12 January 15, 2011 here's another example. i dont think you'll see much of the red between the dark top- and bottom-skin.. my ribs are tangerine (?), top and bottom are silver except the outer cells. edited to clarify and add a better picture“Some may never live, but the crazy never die.” -Hunter S. Dittodogg 0 #13 January 15, 2011 You might want to call ahead to see if they have the colors you want in stock first. I ordered a canopy about 6 months ago and they were really limited on what colors were in stock. I didnt get the ZPX fabric because I was downsizing from a 210 to a 168 and needed the pack volume for my container. Good luck and it your design looks great.Team Dirty Sanchez #455, Muff Brother #4197, SCR #14847, DPH -8, Dude #5150
Andy9o8 2 #14 January 15, 2011 I'm not saying your color combo doesn't look nice. But Silver and grey tend to blend in with the sky, especially when overcast or in lower light conditions; and they can also blend in with ground clutter if the ground clutter happens to be greyish. JALUV2 0 #15 January 15, 2011 The color choices of ZPX are terrible I wish they had an orange, I could make something work then! How about these, changing the color underneath the carbon to show more red?

diablopilot 2 #17 January 16, 2011 Why are you getting ZPX? Other than reduced pack volume it's a pretty poor choice for a parachute. If you don't need the reduced pack volume, you will get a better product with standard ZP.---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. virgin-burner 1 #19 January 16, 2011 QuoteQuoteJust wondering how it might look in real life. Boring? I think it needs much more bright color! personally i think you shouldnt put more than two colors on a canopy, maybe three if one is really contrasting and the other two kinda blend in with each other.. everytime i see a canopy with all the colors of the rainbow i feel the urge to run to the toilet and puke.
