SkyPiggie 0 #1 August 22, 2011 August "Parachutist" magazine, page 34. I've blurred out the person's face, because this is not about her, but about the rig she's wearing. Does it look like the metal orange reserve handle is in the pocket backwards, with the square corners facing out, and the rounded edge tucked into the pocket? Or is it supposed to be that way? And how about that long loop of cutaway cable housing sticking way out to the side - isn't that a dangerous snag hazard?
hookitt 1 #2 August 22, 2011 The handle is installed correctly. Look where the reserve cable housing is. If it was backward, the handle won't fit in the pocket because the reserve cable would be to the outside (the side you can see) The shape of that handle is still tapered from inside to out. It's a fairly sharp angle but it's correct for that handle. The cutaway cable housing should be pushed down farther into the mudflap. If it tends to do that all the time, care to push it down each time a student wears it should be taken. On that particular rig, or at least later models of that rig, there should be an elastic keeper under the mudflap to route the housing through. It prevents the housing from doing exactly what you see there. Edit: The handle is was modeled after the larger handle that was so popular for many years. The lower profile and smaller handles were only made popular in the 2000's.My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry...
