piisfish 140 #1 July 4, 2011 yesterday I had my 5th reserve ride, 3rd cutaway, and 1st self-save (I had packed the reserve myself) on 5th and last jump of the day (4 of them on wingsuits), I did have to pull all my handles after a 6000m (18kft) wingsuit flight. After a decent PC pitch, I felt the canopy opening "weirdly"... at least 7 linetwists, spinning and on my back... Located and grabbed my handles, pulled "right", flipped to be more or less belly down and pulled silver... Landed in a field, spotted my freebag descending in the same field, and just after dropping my helmet and handles to take a picture, I turn around and my canopy was just 20m behind me The weirdest part was actually to imagine that I had packed that reserve myself (even if there was already 2 saves with my packjobs) Just want to thank Rigging Innovations (and the ladies who sew and anssembled my rig) and PD for the reserve, USAPR for teaching me well, and my rigger Also want to thank Lydie for driving around to me, Norbert for teh same thing, plus he had taken a beer for me, and my LOVE for texting me that she had seen a cutaway and that she was on her way (she was walking our dog at that time, and usually brings back most of our cutaways and out-landers) I am also happy I didn't need to thank Airtec that time And now back to work, I want to jump this weekend scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM
mjosparky 4 #2 July 4, 2011 Sounds like you did just fine. Are trying to qualify for an "A" lic. on reserves? My fist save was me. SparkyMy idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

JohnRich 4 #7 July 4, 2011 Quoteyesterday I had my 5th reserve ride, 3rd cutaway... Does this mean that you've had two reserve rides without cutting away the main? How did that come to happen? Were the other two totals? Canopy wraps? Inquiring minds want to know...
LouDiamond 1 #8 July 4, 2011 I cannot believe you forgot to thank me.....if it wasn't for me, you'd have never made it to class on time and would have failed miserably.Glad to hear you saved your own life and that you're OK. Now don't forget to buy your rigger a bottle. virgin-burner 1 #10 July 4, 2011 I heartfully disagree; in BASE u jump your reserve! “Some may never live, but the crazy never die.” -Hunter S. Thompson "No. Try not. Do... or do not. There is no try." -Yoda
Trae 1 #11 July 4, 2011 in base it feels like you're jumping 1 good canopy. in skydiving it feels like you're jumping 1 1/2 canopies.
