champu 1 #7 May 6, 2011 haha... This is the image I get in my head whenever someone says they love their soft openings on canopy X and quote an absurd snivel duration of 1000 ft or more.

I made about 1400 jumps on Units, not a single chop. But yeah, just like the Unit. Wait a minute, my Unit was much more a double end cell closure canopy. Sniveled a bit but always had to pump the breaks for a fully inflated canopy.. Now, I did have a Batwing 116 that had the precision oversized slider and it would snivel till I pumped the breaks. The slider would then "rocket" down and smack my knuckles, ouch..... As a side, with that snivel I am amazed it never seemed to want to go into twists. Sure, I was being a little tongue-in-cheek on that. But the Unit had some amazing snivels. Cutting various holes in the sliders eventually improved the openings. But still, every time, you'd have closed end cells and a hung up slider. A couple of quick pumps with the brake toggles would always fix that.
ryoder 1,590 #13 May 7, 2011 I had a second hand Unit. It opened just fine. The previous owner had vented the slider. And when I say "vented", I mean all that was left of the slider was a 4" wide strip of material around the perimeter."There are only three things of value: younger women, faster airplanes, and bigger crocodiles" - Arthur Jones.
