dragon2 2 #1 May 4, 2011 So, over here we teach students to have a ROT landing (CRAP landing). R = rechtuit (straight ahead, canopy level) O = obstacle free T = tegen de wind (against the wind) (hmm, LOW landing?) Last weekend we had a good amount of wind. Including enough turbulence that sat afternoon/sun afternoon a lot of people (including me) ended up sitting down. The preferred landing spot sat/sun was just over the ditches. So, a few people ended up not giving themselves enough room to CLEAR those ditches + barbed wire, in that wind. One or two landed on the field next to ours, others just made it (). This one girl was going to land in the ditches, going straight down. She has a couple hundred jumps, she flies a 170 sabre or something similar and is fairly lightweight. Still, trying to avoid said ditches by doing a panic s-turn @ ~30ft into the other field had her ending up with both lower legs bones broken twice. Please, just land in the d*mn ditch everyone, if you have to. This ended badly but could've ended much much worse. Try to have that crap landing ciel bleu, Saskia

dragon2 2 #3 May 4, 2011 I forgot, while turbulence didn't play a role in the above incident, I still have some interesting video of a landing on the 1 jump our 9 way did on sunday. pyrotech 0 #4 May 4, 2011 All my landings have been crap so far (in that I've never successfully stayed on my feet). But we didn't go over any acronyms for landing. What does CRAP stand for? I'm assuming it means basically the same as ROT, but what does the acronym mean?
