Because it won't last as long as either of those. Drag tests have been conducted -- both scientific, and school-of-hard-knocks type (fortunately not by me). JerseyShawn 0 #28 February 28, 2011 Quote Now will that protect your bum and hips at say 15-40mph on grass? Who knows. I doubt it would help anything except scraping your skin up. I would figure being you said you had martial arts training that you would know it takes very low pressure and a hit at the right angle to break bones easily. A 1/4" of padding would do nothing at 15-40 mph to stop a bone injury. Do what the experienced jumpers have learned and proved to work effectively, PLF. When you do find something that you have actually tried and works, post it. Some newbie (I am, but not me) might see one of your posts and try it. Like your video thread you tried to tell newbies to watch to learn to flare at the right time under canopy, yet you had yet to try it youself. Learn from the older/wiser jumpers that have made mistakes and made the sport what it is today for you and I. No disrespect intended Shah
shah269 0 #29 February 28, 2011 Quote No disrespect intended Shah No no none taken! No I really appreciate the info you guys give. I saw this and though...would it work? You guys made some great points using your experience and I graetly appreciate it. Look we don't learn if we don't ask "why not" And well I ask alot of "Why not" questions. And you guys have always provided some great info as to why and or why not. The flair thing, I'm still "working on". It's such a fundimental skill and so difficult to practice. I think the best one info I ever got on the subject was from Mr. Germain where he stated, "Take a ladder out in the file, get to the top, look around and that's about how high you should be." But that's a different thread.Life through good thoughts, good words, and good deeds is necessary to ensure happiness and to keep chaos at bay.
