Throttlebender 0 #1 February 8, 2011 I'm seeing plenty of Pilots for sale which is my second choice(and current canopy on the rig I'm selling) but finding a good used Safire2 160-169 is a pain in the butt Just needed to grumble for a sec.Life expands or contracts in proportion to one's courage. ~Anais Nin

Throttlebender 0 #3 February 8, 2011 Pilot or Safire? I know you're a fan of the Pilot. I like it also but since I'm selling my rig and building a new one, I thought I would check out the Safire. I'm hoping to get just a wee bit more flare than the 2 pilots I've flown had to offer.Life expands or contracts in proportion to one's courage. ~Anais Nin
billvon 3,008 #4 February 8, 2011 >Pilot or Safire? Safire2. Pilots are best in the larger sizes, down to about a 140. Below that I'd go with a Safire2.

Thanks for rubbing it in hold on, i'll make you REALLY jealous now! optimum reserve in there, picked that one over others coz it fits the color-pattern better than the usual white ones.. gosh, i'm such a gear-whore! “Some may never live, but the crazy never die.” -Hunter S. Throttlebender 0 #10 February 8, 2011 See that's just wrong! Ya can't be that fashion forward in skydiving. It just doesn't go with all the mismatched combinations of black and neon I'm used to seeing. And YES, I'm very jealous now. Those are great colors. THERE, are ya happy? The corrolation between the number of used canopies of any particular model on the market and the populairty of that model isn't that easy to define. Maybe there are fewer Saphire 2's being purchased new from the manufacturer to begin with. That would result in fewer units ever making it to the used market. You would have to know how many units are purchased new to determine if the reason for the lack of units on the used market is because people like them....or because people DON'T like them.Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX
CarloC 0 #19 February 8, 2011 Safires are really hard to find, even the safire one, imagine the 2. Anyway, i loooooooooove my Safire, i dont see any other canopy in the future, the normal progression would be a crossfire 2 for me, but i dont know about that! Throttlebender 0 #20 February 9, 2011 I hear ya Chuck, and I'm sure there ARE fewer on the market than some of the others. But having never heard anything negative about the Safire2, I can only make the reasonable assumption that they are in fact, LOVED. For my sake, I wish a bit less so.Life expands or contracts in proportion to one's courage. ~Anais Nin
