wolfriverjoe 1,523 #2 February 8, 2011 If you liked the people and atmosphere where you went before, go back. You could check out the other DZs in the area, but beware of what they say about each other. My understanding (which may or may not be right) is that they don't like each other very much. AFP and AFF are fairly similar. You won't notice any difference. Everything you need for the first few jumps will be provided. All you need to bring is money, a good attitude and some courage."There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Niki1 1 #3 February 8, 2011 I gave every one of my students tha same admonition during the first jump course. "If you're not careful, skydiving will consume 50% of your time and 75% of your money." So if you're in school, stay there and aquire a good income. I didn't but my students who did came to have enough money to jump as much as I wanted. I still had one hell of a good time though. On a more practical note. If you've spent a good deal of time in the water, swimming, scuba diving, etc., you're already fairly well acclimated. Here's why: On the ground, where we've spent most of our lives, we change heading on the long axis that goes down our bodiies, parallel to the spine. In the water and the air, we change heading on dorssal (?) axis that goes through the belly front to back. It may not seem like much, but it's been ingrained in us all our llives. It's why a lot of Level IV AFF students look one way and turn the other. They're trying to change heading on that long axis. Time in the water is cheaper than wind tunnel time. Not as much fun but a lot cheaper. Remember, there are only 3 places you can be on this planet. On the ground, in the water, or in hte air. The 2 places we don't live require a different mind set. And the main rule: Have Fun. That's a rule you may learn to apply to other areas of your life as well. Good luck.
