Your best excuse as to why you screwed the pooch on that swoop...

Recommended Posts

Inspired by every incident and a conversation between a friend who doesn't post here.....

The best excuses you've come up with, or heard:

I'll start:

1) "The Sun was in my eyes"
2) "I got burbled."
3) "Side Gust."
4) "I forgot my competition goggles."
5) "I had an extra helping of weak-sauce last night."
6) "Diablopilot cut me off."

You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

I originally heard that from the oft references Scott Miller. Not for his canopy piloting, but what others blamed for their actions.:D

I think Lance "Swoop" Kerwin gets the original credit for uttering the phrase at the Ranch just after an amazing tandem surf 'back in the day. It was caught on tape and then quickly shared the world over.

Got new contacts and didn't take them into account.

There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. (tbrown)
