vector v348 sizing question

I just purchased a v348. I know you can fit a 190 7-cell like a triathalon or spectre in it and I've heard you can go up or down one size with containers so was just curious if a 9-cell 190 like a sabre2 would fit? And if a 193 optimum would fit? Just curious. Thanks.

Those would be both a very tight squeeze... I have a Sabre2 170 and an Optimum 176 for mine, and I think its going to be snug.

You might be ok, but it most likely wouldn't look very good...

Why did you go for the 348 and not the 350, and where did you hear those canopies will fit?

On the forums people have said they have put in 190 7-cells without issue. When I called upt they just referred me to their sizing chart which assumes all canopies pack the same size. I bought a v348 because I didn't want to wait 22 weeks for a skyhook in a v350. A 190 7-cell and 176 optimum will be fine for me, I was more just curious what else I could fit in there if possible.

Nope, their sizing chart lists examples of canopies that will fit in each size container. If they only list 7-cell 190s in that size and 9-cell 190s in the next size up, chances are they aren't going to fit. It's likely you can cram a bigger than recommended canopy in any container, but its not, well, recommended. Or fun.

perhaps you could look into a pilot canopy in ZPX material or consider a PD Pulse which would both back roughly a size smaller

Got a new v348 in april. Originally had a Nitron 170 and pdr 160. A pretty good squeeze I thought. The sizing chart says it is sized for the 150 range, with room to go from 135 to 170. I doubt you're going to have much fun or luck getting a 9 cell 190 in there.

My V348 has a PD160R in it and the largest main I've crammed into it was a Sabre 170. I don't think you would get a 190 in there.

But that aside, where do you see you can fit a 7cell in a rig where a same-size 9cell wouldn't fit? UTP lists the following 7cells as "fullfitting": spectre 170, storm 170, icarus student 169, omega 169, omni 169, synergy 170, triathlon 160 (so not even a triathlon 175).

If you put a too-big main in a rig, you will have to work hard to pack it (been there, done that), you can damage/total the main bag/container (been there, done that), it looks ugly and what about the reserve, it is going to be smaller than your main (you can fit a 150 up tp a 170 or an optimum 176 in there, more reserve = less room for main and it may sit like a brick on your back).

Sounds like this rig is just too small for you, ATM.

I have a Vector 348 including a Katana 170 and a PD 160 reserve. It is tight. You can fit a 190 in yours providing it's made of F111. But a Sabre ZP 190 is a bit too much.

Learn from others mistakes, you will never live long enough to make them all.
