jigneshsoni 0 #1 August 1, 2005 Moderator and all other Students, I would like to recommend to add some kind of memo section in the user profiles details. I would like this memo section to be used by all members especially new students to enter details about thier each AFF jump. They accomplishments and their mistakes. This section for each user will help other users in future very much to learn from their mistakes and experiences. For example: I have been talking to so many people on this forum. I really would like to get details about how they did during their AFF. How they stuggled throught it, how they managed things, how they made mistakes and how they worked out on those mistakes. All these details could have really helped me out right now. I am just suggesting to plant a tree right now which will give shade to lots of people in future. I would apprecaite comments from other members about this suggestion. Thanks Jigs
Frenchy68 0 #2 August 1, 2005 Have you done a search in the forums? It seems to me there are many, many threads regarding AFF... Makes more sense than a cold memo, because a thread gets feedback from different people. billvon 3,002 #3 August 1, 2005 >I would like this memo section to be used by all members >especially new students to enter details about thier each AFF jump . . That's a good idea, but the problem is that it shouldn't be limited to your AFF jumps. It should also be used for people's first canopy control course (more important nowadays) their first cutaway, their first bigway etc. All are experiences that are valuable when shared. But then you run into a few problems. 1. The area would have to be huge, and it might make it hard to find a given experience. You'd need several areas to write to - my first AFF, my graduation jump, my first cutaway etc. And since there are so many experiences like that, you'd have to let the jumper title each area. 2. One of the most useful parts of posting your first reserve ride is that you may get feedback on what went wrong and what went right. So you'd need a way for people to reply. Take the two of them, and you end up with a 'personal forum' where each member has their own threads. There is a way to get this right now - go to Search (options) then search under Safety+Training for posts by only one person. If you want to see their AFF experiences, put AFF in the search string. If you want to see if they went to a Scott Miller course, put Scott Miller in the search string. In short, we have talked a bit about doing what you asked, but you can get almost the same functionality right now with the board we have.

Jeth 0 #6 August 2, 2005 Jigs, Many people have their sites/blogs/jump journals linked from their profile. When I was starting out I read some great journals from people here. Now I link mine in case there are people (like you ) that might want to know how my AFP went. I agree with others that having posts makes it more interactive and useful than just a static note. There is a ton of info to find, just play around with the search. There are a million posts on "how many levels did you fail" or "how many levels to pass AFF" or "having trouble with X". In all those posts many people reply with their experiences. It's very easy to spend an entire day just reading old posts! "At 13,000 feet nothing else matters." PFRX!!!!! mdrejhon 8 #7 August 2, 2005 QuoteModerator and all other Students, A great idea, but here's a good workaround that already exists: Post a link to your very own personal "AFF progress" thread into the webpage section of your profile. That way, people can click on it and see your AFF progress. And reply to it. It'd be pretty much permanent, as threads on this forum tends to stay around for years, and could even be bumped up weeks later too. It's very easy -- just copy and paste the "Address:" line of the thread you've just posted, into the Web Page address of your Profile.
