inherited my uncles gear

Recommended Posts

Hello, Im new to the site. I did not know if anyonw could help me out in where to go to get this "complete rig" sold other than this site. I lost my uncle about 2 years ago and he left me all his gear. Well after 2 years of sitting in my closet, my wife wanted it out of the way so if anyone could help, please feel free to call me. My name is Rich and i live in Daytona Beach right down the street from the Skydive Deland site. My number is 386-547-7158.
My gear is a Javelin Odyssey J1K w/vengence 150 main, PD143R (no jumps), AAD Cypress 2, and a Pro Track altimeter. DOM for it all was 2002 and it all has less than 25 jumps on it before he died per Pine at SkyDive Deland. Anyways thank you all in advance for any help...

Lots of the bigger gear shops will sell stuff on consignment. Square One does (or at least did).
They price and sell it, and keep a reasonable commission. If you don't know gear and values, it's a good way to go.
You could sell it to a dealer, but like with a car, they won't pay top dollar. But you would get the money right away.

The ProTrack could simply be put in the classifieds here or on E-Bay. Look at other ads to see pricing.

First, since you're new to the forum, be prepared for a moderator to tell you to post this in the classifieds section on this site, rather than in this thread.

Second, please understand that the theft of skydiving gear, and the fencing of it online, is a real problem. So no matter how you proceed, be prepared to fully verify your and the gear's bona fides.

If you live right down the street from Skydive Deland, have you thought about taking it down there to see if anyone was interested? Maybe you could hang it up in the gear store, or post a 'For Sale' flyer somewhere on the DZ. It would simplify the selling process for you, as you could do everything in person as opposed to through the mail.

To that end, it is normal for a jumper to want the gear inspected by their own rigger. It's like buying a used car, you want your mechanic to look at it before purchase, even if the seller's mechanic says it's great, you want to hear that from your own guy.

How you want to handle the issues of payment and inspection if selling abroad is up to you, but just be ready for buyers to want things checked out.

That said, look like a nice rig and if everything is in good shape, the asking price seems fair.

Ever consider getting trained to use it?

I'm just saying.
