A friend had a Stampe biplane and would be at the end of the runway while everyone was looking at something going on overhead. I would climb into the front cockpit, and he' take off and hold about 2 miles away. When it was our turn to go onstage, we would fly in, and "our" announcer would make like we were a transient aircraft, screaming" get that plane out of here...theres an airshow going on". He would apologize to the crowd for this dumb pilot, and watch as our plane looped. Still the announcer would be getting madder by the second, and two more loops, and on the third, I would fall out of the plane and waggle my arms and legs like a wuffo. The announcer would scream " Oh My Gosh, the pilot has fallen out, and the plane would dip and swoop down behind some trees off to the side. I would crank open my paracommander at 150- 250 feet with a loud thunderclap. We scared the blazes out of everyone. Then the announcer would say who was flying the plane and who had jumped. Its the greatest adrenalin rush ever. One jumper said he would do the jump, and when he found out what thety wanted, he told them only for $5000 up front. It really doesnt matter how low I opened as long as my feet were above the ground....If my chute wasnt fully opened when my feet hit the ground, I wouldnt give it a second thought. Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites Designer 0 #43 October 24, 2003 4-way night dive with first time night diver.2 jumpmaster,actually 2+7/8(consider the third almost a jumpmaster!)We planned the dive completely.Very simple 4-way dive with the 3 jumpmaster types always in eye or close physical contact with the first timer.We did nine points.Presented a pretty new skydiver the right way to approach a night dive.Was so excited about the freefall going so well,I forgot which way the wind was blowing and landed downwind almost into a parked airplane!!!!!!!!!!!(Had enough room to PLF sliding under the wing!(WHEW).lOVE THOSE KIND OF DIVES!You help teach!You have fun doing it! AQR#3,CWR#49 Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites jumpgod 0 #46 October 24, 2003 lol. 1) solo jump, big puffy clouds, peak of my abilities, king air, breathtaking scenery, jumpers below spaced apart (i'm watching them), chased my own shadow in a cloud. spectacular. -- Skydive San Marcos, TX 2) group skydive... over the ocean on the boarder between florida and alabama (gulf of mexico about 1/2 mi out -- had water gear), 6-way STAR... sunset, beautiful coastline, high rises below... still gives me chills... 6-way all went to T's with leg down and then broke apart... buddy flies up to me and i'm unsuspecting and grabs me and takes me into a fruit loop. i'm seeing beach, waves, sky over and over and i'm like... wholy freakin' sh!t. pull around 4 or 5 and ride risors for 6 or 7 mins. land beside beach bar and enjoy cold margarita and shrimp and shoot breeze with everybody. totally marvelous -- Emerald Coast Skydivers, AL. 3) 5 degrees on the ground -10 or so at altitude... exit in 4-way from cessna... helmet frozen shut... various loops and rolls to redocks. quiet for freefall and cold is numming finger tips. unique scenery... small towns, winter trees... beautiful. -- Arkansas Aero Sports, Arkansas. 4) just got done watching a jumper go low and his cypress fire at 500' or so... just made it. i turn to an expert 4-way waiting to board the otter with me -- F*CK -- board otter -- music going in cabin... i'm thinking, i'm nuts to do this but i love it... 16-way exits aircraft and i swoop to formation. dock and just hang out and watch all the skydivers. everyone just jamming and having a great time. track out of formation -- best track ever... just smooth... clean on heading openning. love skydiving :) -- Skydive Arizona, AZ Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites kallend 2,027 #47 October 24, 2003 QuoteHands down, my one and only jump with Roger Nelson. My memorable jumps: inverted Pitts Special at Quincy, the 2 point 120 way, and a 12 second 10-way speedstar to current USPA rules.... The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one.
