Round Video

Recommended Posts

We have started "Mexican Monday's" at work in which we like to take our Latino friend out to do stupid shit and push him outside his comfort zone while he visits us for a few short months. So far Mexican Mondays have been a success with him making his first BASE jumps and we convinced him to jump our old rig we bought for 250 bones.

The best part now is it doesn't even have to be a monday, we just scream Mexican Monday when we get a really bad idea.

"Fucking Mexican Mondays, its gonna kill me." Cajones Diego!

Disclaimer: I didn't pack that crap.

Uh, take a look at the risers post-deployment. Hooking them up and packing a round isn't rocket science. Whoever's responsible for that should get his ass kicked.

ETA: I now see your "disclaimer". :P

Is it just me or did that look like someone was doing a downwinder without going for the PEAS.. WTF is up with that.

I had the Army try to teach me too... I did it their way when it was an Army jump.. BUT who the fuck wants to jump those unmodified tunaboat canopies from 1250' or less. Jumping a C-9 is alot more sporty, and excellent PLF skills come in REAL handy:ph34r:

And jumping one of MY ParaCommanders or the Papillion is just hella fun.:)

The pitiful thing is that it's not like a step-thru on a square, which is more easily missed. Very first thing ya do when you pack a round is run the lines, right? It should have been caught within the first 10 seconds of the pack job.

Nice step-through though! :D

Just wondering, could he have flipped 360 in the harness going feet up and over to straighten the risers out?

I've done the hanging upside down stunt under canopy a few times up high. Wouldn't take much more effort to tip over backwards.

I'm not saying anybody should try it to find out... Shit can happen.

I have been wondering how they could have missed something like that. A proper layout and a simple four line check would have caught it. I can think of a couple of ways it could have been introduced into the system after it was bagged and was being placed into the pack tray.

Did anyone else catch the hard pull during deployment?

Hopefully the person who packed/jumped it has had a wake up call and will be more diligent in the future.

Ah, but it wasn't bagged, it was sleeved.

Sleeved, Bagged, sleeved then bagged, regardless, I can still think of a couple of ways this happened.

No doubt; but thinking back on my round-canopy days (which for me are long past), and having packed a lot of rounds in both bags and sleeves, I'd think that accidentally packing a step-thru on a sleeve would probably be harder than doing so on a bag.

He pulled the handle straight down, putting a 90 degree bend in the cable running from the hard housing. I did tell him to punch it down towards his crotch and strip the cable.

Either way, old school shit in HD is pretty cool. He said something about never wanting to do it again though which is a shame :P
