aeroflyer 0 #26 June 30, 2010 Quote Take home point: It doesn't matter who you ship with, they will manage to fuck it up somehow. Yep! Although I have a particular dislike for UPS based on not having a single good experience
DrewEckhardt 0 #27 July 1, 2010 Quote As for insurance, yes you need to declare the full value. But here is a good quote about insurance which is very true based on my experience: "Think of it more like this. You pay for the insurance, they lose the package, and then they give you the runaround until you get tired of asking about it. They win, you lose." I've collected $500 plus shipping costs on projection lenses USPS managed to loose somewhere between here and Europe. Took about two months of waiting and a couple of phone calls. riggerrob 643 #28 July 1, 2010 Which Canada Post branch is it at? I might be able to accompany you Saturday morning and inspect it in the Post Office.
riggerrob 643 #29 July 1, 2010 " ... The USPS brokerage fee is $8. It is getting ridiculous though... " ...................................................................... Only $8.00? You got off easy! The last time I received parachute parts via FEDEX or UPS, they charged $45 in brokerage fees! One of them charged over $90 and "lost" an entire tandem rig for three weeks! The sad thing was that I was not even buying the tandem rig, because it was a "loner" for a rigging course! Needless to say, the tandem rig cleared customs AFTER the course concluded!!!! And they wonder why I bad-mouth courier companies??????
