lrozyn 0 #1 June 9, 2010 Hi, I am flying a 170 spectre at 1,45 wing load Upon 360 and 450 turns on altitude below 800 ft I tend to loose ca 500 ft of altitude The speed of the decent is what concerns me - I have a vigil 2 AAD which activates at 35 m/s I wonder whether it is possible that I come close to AAD activation speed of decent which may result in reserve deployment Has anyone come across any articles which may indicate what are the decent rates for specific wing loads/canopies at 360/450 turns? Cheers L
piisfish 140 #2 June 9, 2010 normally you shouldn't come close to those speeds on such a canopy with your wingloading. the people who are flirting with these speeds are flying faster canopies (faster profiles) and higher wingloadings (2+) nevertheless any AAD can fail.scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM
jurgencamps 0 #3 June 9, 2010 Isn't there some logging possible with the vigil? See which speeds it has logged. But do not worry. You are not in the dangerzone with that canopy and that wingloading.
