ontour36 0 #27 May 4, 2010 My !st was a Static line at Kakadu National Park, NT of Aus in 1981, Darwin PC came and trained 6 of us in return for a weekend of booze & fishing. All I remember of my 1st jump is landing a PC and standing in awe of what I'd just done and hearing the CI say"see if one of the 1st jumpers wants to fill the fun load" I put my hand up and was back in the C 206 10 minutes later. In the plane I felt the luv from the experienced jumpers and knew I'd found home. Cookie

SkyTango 0 #29 May 5, 2010 12 February 2005 - Ended up in class with 3 others (S/L) - The first girl I ever saw on the DZ was also in the FJ class. - 3500 out of a Porter. - Remembered I had to count but the main was already open so I didn’t. - Rechecked the canopy after every little shutter. (It stayed there) - Landed on the DZ - Had beer. - 2007 married that girl I saw. JC If you woke up breathing, congratulations! You get another chance. Baksteen 84 #30 May 5, 2010 Quote Static line out of a C-206, got hooked and made my second jump later that afternoon. Me too... video over here No idea why or how that got 20k views; those exits aren't *that* bad...I'm the second one out. As I push off all my instincts scream I'm about to die and I close my eyes in terror. Next thing I know I get this 'slam' kind of experience and I open my eyes in surprise to look up at a parachute. I remember belatedly thinking: "ah... Yes.. eh.. 1001 1002 1003 parachute checklist." Then I noticed some linetwists and laughed. Of course - happens to *me* on my first jump! I kicked out of the twists and nicely landed my canopy on the DZ, even if I flared at what looked like 20 meters.... After struggling an eternity to pack that Manta, manifest calls two slots remaining on the next load. My FJC buddy Bas and I exchange a glance and manifest again. Second jump I did remember the exit count, but got totally confused with the new landing pattern (the winds probably had changed, I can't remember) I flew a less-than-textbook approach and landed crosswind. Unfortunately I have since lost sight of Bas, who gave up skydiving, but I got the bug..."That formation-stuff in freefall is just fun and games but with an open parachute it's starting to sound like, you know, an extreme sport." ~mom

regulator 0 #32 May 5, 2010 August 8th, 2005 Perris, California Never had any tandem jumps...went to AFF straight away on 1st jump. If I remember I was flying a HUGE canopy...like a navigator 240 ...I weigh 155 lbs. We flew the otter...was 2nd to exit. Decent freefall...needed to arch more Pulled myself (with instructors hand on mine to make sure) Performed a radio controlled landing...slid on my ass in the high grass. Student cypres, Javelin Container...Navigator
Phil3D 0 #33 May 5, 2010 A tandem last month. I messed up my right ankle a little on landing. Ended up jumping again anyways. Now an AFF student. That wasn't flying. That was falling with style.
Da_SKiES_R_BLu 0 #34 May 6, 2010 2008- Boulder SkySports. I was 16, Jumped a Manta 280. ( i only weighed 118!) out of a cessna 182. I was more scared of the plane ride then i was letting go of the strut. I had 4 line twists and after my canopy opened it took me neerly 8 minutes to touch the ground. I actually began to gain altitude because my chut was soo big. Winds were about 12 miles an hour... it was quite a trip...
