kallend 2,030 #1 May 6, 2010 I got this by email, supposedly from Dan B-C. I'm fairly sure it's a scam and I'm checking with him. If you get a similar message I suggest you ignore it until confirming that it's genuine. Quote OMG! I'm writing this with tears in my eyes,my fam and I came down here to Wales,United Kingdom for a short vacation unfortunately we were mugged at the park of the hotel where we stayed, all cash, credit card and cell were stolen off us but luckily for us we still have our passports with us. We've been to the embassy and the Police here but they're not helping issues at all and our flight leaves in less than 2days from now but we're having problems settling the hotel bills(£1,800 Pound) and the hotel manager won't let us leave until we settle the bills,I'm freaked out at the moment....LET ME KNOW IF YOU CAN GET LOAN TO ME RIGHT NOW AND I PROMISE TO PAY BACK IMMEDIATELY I RETURN BACK HOME. ANYTHING YOU LOAN ME WILL BE APPRECIATED. THANKS Dan.... The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one.
rwieder 0 #2 May 6, 2010 In my profession we refer to that as a "419" 99% of them come from Africa. Stay away from them, block them from your address book.-Richard- "You're Holding The Rope And I'm Taking The Fall"
wmw999 2,460 #3 May 6, 2010 I'm not on Dan B-C's email list, but I got exactly the same email from another skydiving friend about 6 months ago. Skydivers gotta quit visiting GB, obviously. It's dangerous Wendy P. There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. Flyfast 0 #6 May 6, 2010 This is what we refer to as a "419" or "Money Mule Scam", pretty obvious it's Fraud, but so many people fall for it... NickDG 23 #9 May 6, 2010 Boy, did this scammer pick the wrong target. . . LOL Dan would just find the local DZ and guest coach for a week. Then fly his entire family home first class. Never-minding the fact he'd have kicked the stuffing out of any mugger. Plus (and this is the big tip off) Dan would never "admit" to crying . . . TheBachelor 5 #20 May 10, 2010 Dan talked about that at the 100-way camp last weekend. He claimed he would NEVER write "OMG," and of course, it was a scam. He even posted a copy of the email on the bulletin board so we could all have a good laugh. There are battered women? I've been eating 'em plain all of these years...
