Math and Physics of Freefall

Recommended Posts

Can somebody give details on the Math and Physics during freefall in all diofferent kind of positions.

I mean once you jump of the plane at 13500 feet and get into arch position, how much time you have for freefall if you want to open parachute at 5000 feet? Please post details on different scenerios on how it affects math and physics with respect to weight, postion, speed, wind, speed of the plane.

Thanks a lot

During my college days. Hahaha. The instructor knew that I was a skydiver and he tried to show me some formula for calculationn of free fall of where the jumper is at with so many seconds after exit. Example at 2 sec you would be so many feet from the A/c etc.. I never got it and could care less as I know the first 10 is 1000 feet and after that its all about that.

My kid's high school physics teacher did all that but totally discounted air resistance and terminal velocity. Had us hitting the ground in like 20 seconds at a zillion miles an hour. My kid didn't say anything. :P
