I need to slow down - help !

Recommended Posts

Iv'e tried several suits now and I'm still searching for the ultimate chunky jumpers freefall suit. I'm 5ft 8" 230 lbs jumper that is struggling to not sink out on most RW jumps. Can anyone reccomend a suitable jump suit.
Iv'e been jumping poly cotton suit from Original Lizard and Freak N suit. But I still want to get a slower fall rate. I'm working on the diet but is there anything else that could help? does anyone know of a successfull suit design for heavy fallers. Arm Cuffs? do they work? Im not wanting a ballon suit but a really well designed suit with a combination of slow fall material.

I got a Giaco RW suit (here and used). I'm 6-1 230 solid 36" waist, 48 chest. The previous owner sent it to Bev to have it modded with some wings. Suit has booties and is looser on the arms and lower legs. I have used it with great results on RW jumps. Great control and mitigated my fall rate.

Believe me, I feel your pain finding stuff for us bigger guys. I lucked out on getting a used suit without having to get a custom. However, custom may be your only option. Keep an eye out in the classified section.

I'm what most folks would refer to as a "slightly larger" guy. In my experience a good suit will give the chance, but the ability comes from appropriate coaching of body flight. It took me a while to learn how to fly on my belly, once I got a hold of a good RW coach that really taught me how to fly my belly, then it all came together.

Good luck!

If you do a search on this, I've posted a lot about suit features that help on this (without pitching a specific brand or advertising my wife's biz etc).

Talk to your local suit maker about -

fit (how to make it comfy and add material without a whole lot of flapping material)
extra layers
maximum sized booties and grippers
avoiding idiotic gimmicks/features

Like little parachutes for your arms and legs? :)

I'm about 5' 10" and 225 lbs. Weight lifter. Its mostly muscle
so in addition to being heavy, I'm a good bit smaller than
guys that are in my weight class because of excess body fat.

I'm an anvil.

I use a Bevsuit Polycotton suit with regular cordura booties
and a lining. Decent amount of fabric under the arms and loose
arms and legs.

I STILL fall pretty fast, and have to fly fairly de-arched most of the time but its manageable.

Still, I always enjoy doing RW with other anvils and not have to worry so much about fall rate :)

nice job - now someone is going to offer that in about 3 months and 4 people here will immediately swear that they are the greatest thing ever.......and then post elsewhere that they have a hard time taking grips....
