carrasco 0 #1 February 8, 2010 I'm looking for suggestions on how to build a tube, or where to have one made. I'm not talking about the type of dive, I'm referring to the fabric type usually flown by free flyers.
skyjumpenfool 2 #2 February 8, 2010 I have some videos of a local jumper doing these. Interesting (or scarry depending on perspective) to watch her main opening along side a tube. She is a national champion freestyle flyer with thousands of jumps. Be careful and make sure you rig it correctly. Check around and talk to jumpers with experience doing this. FrancoR 0 #3 February 8, 2010 QuoteI'm looking for suggestions on how to build a tube, or where to have one made. I'm not talking about the type of dive, I'm referring to the fabric type usually flown by free flyers. There are a couple of threads on this, but they are probably not easy to find :-) I have commented on a few. We built ours from the following materials: Round steel tube from a mosquito net, the type that you can hang over a bed. F111 tube sewn by out rigger. Cutaway cables Resere handle as grip (not the best choice) Bungee cord. A Ring aprox 3 centimeters in diameter some webbing. The cutaway cable makes a net on which the tube gets stuffed on, bungees cord hold it onto the net creating the release mechanism. This is the type of tube i prefer. There was a german webpage showing how this type of tube looks, but i can't find it anymore. Be sure to get very good instructions on how to use the tube and be sure you are capable of flying with it, our tube also hugged a canopy a little too much :-) But the reserved opened fine. FrancoIf it does not cost anything you are the product.
jdfreefly 1 #4 February 9, 2010 Make sure the handle can't twist up to the point where it gets locked onto your hand. That happened to a guy at the world freefall convention and he went in. You will want to use something like this to separate the tube from the handle. This will allow the tube to twist freely without binding to your hand. Methane Freefly - got stink?
