Armour666 0 #2 January 26, 2010 I flew back on Jan 4th from the US to Canada and they only asked if it had compressed gas in it. I forgot one of my hook knifes on my rig and that went through as well. This was traveling through Newark I was caught up in the mass BS hysteria security breach and spent the Night there after they kicked all people out of the secure area and had to go through security again. Pp till this week going from Canada you could not have any carry on other then a small purse because of the underwear bomber.SO this one time at band camp..... DSE 5 #3 January 26, 2010 Didn't fly from EU, but flew from Canada last weekend and the previous week. Previous week; forced to check it. I had a bag just in case (anything with backpack straps or over a certain size couldn't be brought on board) I also wasn't allowed n iPod but could carry my phone.Last week, no problem. Carried into cabin, no sweat. I'd check with your local airport, as it seems the TSA regs have various interpretations that are implemented at various times. brettski74 0 #4 January 27, 2010 Also flew Canada->US return, returning about a week ago. Similar experince to the others - namely that at the time, flights into the US were not permitted any carry on bag, although a personal item such as a purse or laptop was permitted. Flights originating in the US had normal carry on rules applied. According to the media, the rule changes were dropped about a week ago, and flights into the US should be under normal carry on baggage rules. That said, from previous experience, never assume that you'll be permitted to carry anything on and be prepared to have to check it should anyone require it - ie. carry it on inside a bag of some sort so that if anything happens and you are required to check it, you're not stressing about whether it gets damaged or handles pulled during handling. wyrdrocks 0 #5 January 27, 2010 I flew from Amsterdam to LAX Jan 4th with my rig in a suitcase as a carry on. They looked twice, knew what it was, then let me go. That was with aad and a hook-knife. Our flight was an hour delayed though because of the pat-down second screening for everyone they started that day.
