mailin 0 #1 November 18, 2004 I'm in the process of finding accident insurance that covers skydiving, and have come across a plan that sounds particularly good for folks travelling abroad. http://www.imglobal.com//pdf.cfm?f=62 Specifically covers 'extreme sports' minus BASE jumping though (sorry guys ). They over other plans that cover travel within the US, and I'm trying to find that now. mailin 0 #3 November 18, 2004 Just as a follow up - this Patriot Extreme plan covers US citizens travelling abroad and non-US citizens travelling within the US. It covers rock climbing, skydiving and other 'extreme' sports. It does not, however, cover BASE jumping or white water rafting above category V. It does not cover US citizens within the US. mailin 0 #5 November 18, 2004 hehe Ya, the Patriot Extreme is a brand new policy, I was pretty psyched to find it. Although there are many posts on here about trouble getting accident insurance for skydiving, I see few that try to solve the problem. I spoke with Maureen at the USPA this morning, and even they don't keep a list of private companies that may offer accident or travel insurance for skydiving - so I'll be sure to call her about this find later today. I am still looking for insurance for my trip to FL - so if anyone has had luck with getting some kind of accident/travel insurance that has a medical attached to it - please list it here. I don't know how else to get around this - other than getting any old travel insurance and lying about any injury that occurs I've heard that Mutual of Omaha's accident insurance will cover skydiving - but they do not underwrite in all 50 US states. Who else have you all had luck with? JenArianna Frances
dayle 0 #6 November 18, 2004 Hi there, I haven't really had a problem with getting coverage for skydiving when away. My plan with work will cover it and I get some extra coverage for when I go away. The point I was going to make however is that you really need to watch out for a buisness exclusion in the policy. This would not apply to most of us as sport jumpers, however if you are a Tandem Instructor or coach and are doing a jump you are being paid for, watch out. I'll bet anything that they probably wouldn't cover you as it would be considered to be some type of a "workplace" injury. Dayle

When I did so I found that my new policy specifically includes aircraft and anything to do with them - be it as a passenger inside or jumping from. packerboy 3 #8 November 18, 2004 I was talking to an insurance agent today and they asked the question "Do you skydive for money?". They apparantly cover skydiving, but not if you are working. mailin 0 #10 November 19, 2004 Hi Trevor, Do you live in the US? I can't tell from your profile. If you do, did this canadian company say they would cover you as a US citizen in the US? JenArianna Frances
lethargic8 0 #11 January 20, 2010 I just looked into the Patriot Extreme. It has a policy maximum of 50k USD, which is ridiculously low. Hardly enough to be called a useful policy. -derek

Depending on how long your trip is, an annual policy may nto be much more than a single trip policy. Quite generous coverage without exclusions for skydiving or most anything else. https://global.ihi.com/travel+insurance.aspx"There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please.
