newbie question

Get a Free Fly suit.

Square1.com has some for fairly cheap $150 (wow just checked $175 now) they actually used to be $99. I have a Freak'n Suit and like it, they aren't too expensive.

Wouldn't that depend on what kind of flying they plan to do?

Sure but he likely hasn't done much of or any RW or FF. As a beginner you can do either in a FF suit, but you will look a little goofy if your always jumping in a RW suit, and especially if you never do RW.

Obviously not... but there is sure nothing wrong with looking good while you do it..B|B|

If he is talking about buying a jumpsuit I'm sure he wants one that looks good, or maybe he doesn't care if it has florescent colors and is from the 80s... but dude, if you don't plan on doing RW, don't buy a suit with grips on it.

If you really don't give a shit, I'm sure you can borrow a jumpsuit from the bottom of someones locker at the dz... that is what I did for the first few months. See pic of ugly jumpsuit (white, PURPLE, and blue) attached.:D

I don't have a lot of experience or anything but when I had about the same jumps as you I bought kind of like a hybrid suit. It's pretty much a small freefly suit with Grippers. It's Been perfect for me and my skill level since I'm still pretty new and kinda getting a taste of everything.

Well, he's invoked the Prime Directive. There can be no going back now after the mention of Coolness vs. Goofiness.

Christ, If students only knew that they could fly and learn just as well in a pair of Sears coveralls, the Jumpsuit Industry would collapse. But it really helps the riggers' business when they rip the knees out of those expensive jumpsuits 4 or 5 times in their first 100 jumps.

Thanx ! would you now the brand and make of the suit?

it's a deepseed suit. I actually got it second hand so I'm not sure if they make stock suits like that or it's only custom. But I woulD recomend definitley going with something second hand first, or more towards the freefly side I think. Cause if you get an RW suit you can't really freefly with it. But if you get a freefly suit. You technically can still do RW with it. Especially at your level and my level ad well, I don't think it's gonna make a huge difference. And I'm sure you can get grippers sewn on if you don't have them

Funny you mention that. My first jumpsuit was a set of coveralls I sewed grippers and booties onto.

It's the guy that looks weird.
Black jumpsuit, red patch, blue grippers, purple trim...must be a rookie.

Hi, I am a new jumper with about 40 jumps in, and wanted to get a new jumpsuit. However I am a little confused with the tremendous variety offered, and was hoping on a little input any suggestions?

Get a used suit to start with until you can consistently stand up your landings in all wind conditions. If you're going to tear something up...let it be a cheap used one.

First get a used RW suit. It will serve you well while you are gaining freefall experience.

If you decide to stay flat, then get the new RW suit.

If you decide to go FF after you get proficient flat flying, then get a FF suit, new or used.
My reality and yours are quite different.

Thank you everyone for your advice, at this stage of the game it seems as though I could use all the advice I could get. I did see a ff suit from freakin suits that they could add a low profile grippers to (sort of a hybrid I guess) do you think that would work , or is that sort of suit not good for either.
