mousa69 0 #1 December 26, 2009 Hello every one this is my first post and its really nice to be around such an interesting crowd. I recently decided me and one of friends that we want to go skydiving. we've read some articles searched the forum and viewed some DZ but there is still a lot of blur in the picture. I'm sure there are answers to my following questions in previous posts but it was too hectic finding that plus a lot of the posts were really old and i wasn't sure so following is our situation. we decided we want to make an AFF course and get the A license, we also decided to take the course in the US as there are a lot of drop zones with professional approach which is what we seek quality training and precision. we also declared that february 2010 is the time to be. my questions are: 1. i know how many jumps accomplished a day is a matter of weather, availability,.....etc but its kind of hard to plan a 10 day or 20 days off we really don't know and it can't be that flexible as we come all the way from Egypt. So how long seems reasonable enough to plan to get your A license adding just a couple of days for what if's ??? 2. Where in the US would the weather be good enough around february permitting as little weather turbulence as possible? i.e. where should we go so we don't get troubled by weather and get a delay. 3. what is a good drop zone in this area that would be near a city or some attractions so our stay could be fun where we can take a day off or simply go out at night? c10edges 0 #4 December 26, 2009 Skydive Spaceland has a very successful program that will let you get your A Licence in a week. It is a very cheap rate and unlike most other dropzones, you will have all levels with a AFF Instructor. It is in texas so your odds of having good weather in February is relatively high. DSE 5 #5 December 26, 2009 Elsinore and Perris are two that are within very reasonable distances of both Los Angeles or San Diego, both are pretty busy for the off-season. Elsinore has much better views and landing area, Perris has a much better bar and restaurant. More hotels and casinos near Elsinore. Elsinore is known as the "hottest" DZ in the world. Lots of eye candy there. Downtown LA is about the same distance from either DZ. Plus, getting to Elsinore and Perris is very easy with several good-sized airports within a reasonable drive distance. Both have programs that will see you through to your A license. Perris has a tunnel that will help. Perris and Elsinore are about 20 mins apart, so you can't go wrong by choosing either one. Let me re-phrase. c10edges is implying that one DZ is (almost) unique in that all AFF levels are completed with AFF instuctors. My question should have been .. is this pretty much the only US DZ (as implied) that teaches all AFF levels (not the post-AFF jumps that are required for an A licence) with AFF instructors?? Or is this yet another case of fierce supporting of a DZ and never letting the facts getiing in the way of a inaccurate and misleading post?? *********************************************** I'm NOT totally useless... For example: -Both Elsinore and Perris Valley are in reasonable proximity to the tunnel at Perris Valley. -Skydive Arizona has a tunnel. -I suspect that Several Florida Dzs are in reasonable proximity to the Orlando tunnel. Best of all would be to find an instructional program that includes tunnel time to accelerate your learning. I expect that you will find such programs at the DZ's which have their own ( or a close relationship with) a tunnel. If I recall correctly, Skydive University in Florida has a program where you go to the tunnel first, and then are able to skip some AFF levels.
