minimum ages for jumping in usa

Recommended Posts

Hi

does anyone know what the minimum ages are for experienced skydivers to jump in the states more specificily lodi and perris

me (20) my brother (18) and my cousine (17) are hoping to head there for team training in april and have 450, 300 and 150 jumps each and have all been jumping in england since we were 16 but ive heard the age is 18 in the states, is this just for learning to skydive and does lodi have the same rules as there not uspa affiliated

also does anyone have a contact email for lodi so i can comfirm all this with them

many thanks

There's no legal basis for an age limit, though the USPA has the age set for 16 for non-tandem jumping. The problem is that all DZs use a signed waiver to protect themselves from legal liability and if you're under 18 it gets complicated.

In some states a waiver isn't valid even if both your parents sign it. A grandparent could sue if something happened to you. So a lot of DZs have the age limit at 18.

Your best bet would be to talk to manifest or the DZO at either DZ.
