Jumping in sunglasses

I have both tinted goggles and sunglasses. Some folks like myself have VERY sensitive eyes. I have to wear shades unless it's an overcast. Friends and coworkers started calling me Blade awhile back cause I wore sunglasses until it was competely dark outside:)

I was waiting for this response. I am the same way. I cant go outside without sunglasses period.. even when its raining, I have to wear sunglasses [:/]

Me too- I wear sunglasses even when it is cloudy- I just don't jump in them anymore. I keep them with me when I jump and put them back on as soon as I land. When people question it, (say, on a really overcast day and I'm the only one wearing shades?) I ask them if they see any crows feet around my eyes and how old they think I am! :P Its really not about the wrinkles- that's just an added benefit wearing sunglasses can provide!

I wear a pair of Solar Bats. They originaly had rubber on the inside of the frames to seal against your face, but they kept fogging up on me. Once I ripped out the rubber they were fine. I do wear clear goggles when i think the increased communication that eye contact can promote will be needed.

I used to jump in sunglasses all the time. I stopped when someone I have a lot of respect for told me he preferred to see a person's eyes in freefall when he was jumping with them, which made sense to me.

All he would see of me without a tinted visor or goggles is someone with their eyes screwed up against the light.

Many of us have sensitive eyes.

The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one.

Apparently this thread jinxed me!
I lost my Gatorz on a head down jump on Saturday.
Dammit.
:D:D:D
I have been jumping with Gatorz with no strap for years!
:)

Man, that sucks. Give Liquid Eyewear a call. Tell them you're a skydiver and they will take care of you. Sounds like you did jinx yourself.

I've never really had any problem under canopy with them either, sometimes I'll just pull them down onto my chin if it's a nice day

Well, if you're rocking out of your turn towards the ground at 90-ish mph and your plane out across the ground for your swoop is in the 70+ mph range then having your goggle fog and then pulling them to your chin becomes more than just annoying.;)

I don't swoop, I have a spectre 150 :$
Not really enough airspeed to annoy me, only time I would leave them on is if I thought I was going to land off near twigs, bushes etc to protect my eyes.
If in doubt, whip it out...
