ben.f 0 #1 July 22, 2009 Hello guys! I am very new to this sport and its scene, just have my first tandem right behind me. Was one of the greatest things I've ever experienced. So I am thinking about moving forward and to do an AFF. This won't be possible before I finish my studies (money wise). So I've got plenty of time to get deeply into the topic and know as much about the sport and its originalities: I can't get enough information about skydiving, the gear, the risks, etc. pp. So: Can anyone recommend a book which explains all the basics (jargon, physics behind it...) and gives a wholistic overview? Thank you very much!

Meux 0 #4 July 22, 2009 Consider "The Skydiving Handbook" by Dan Poynter and Mike Turoff. Parts of it are dated, but there are some really good basics. There is a lot to be said for hanging around a dz as well. Blue Skies Mo
fmmobley 0 #5 July 22, 2009 +1 on "The Skydiving Handbook" by Dan Poynter and Mike Turoff. Great book.. not filled with technical Jargon. Understandable to someone who is considering skydiving.... Marion
kingbunky 3 #6 July 22, 2009 The Parachute and its Pilot by Brian Germain. Not the skydiving bible, but definitely high on the reading list."Hang on a sec, the young'uns are throwin' beer cans at a golf cart."
