tetra316 0 #4 July 1, 2009 QuoteI know of at least one in Oregon... never been there and couldn't tell you if it is still open. I'm thinking there was 2 of them. Two 182 dzs. Ralph's place and Central Oregon Skysports. Although I wouldn't be surprised if both closed soon. Their owners are both older and I think wanting to get out of the dz business (at least that's the unofficial vibe).

peek 21 #9 July 2, 2009 Quote Mullins - National director, not a group member. What does that tell you about the group member program? For many years they were not, and your question is well put. However they now are: http://www.uspa.org/FindaDZ/GroupMemberListbyState/Tennessee/tabid/398/Default.aspx#

I'd hate for them to close before I get a chance to visit them. Any word if Eugene Skydivers is allowing fun jumpers again (they told me no in March). My parents live about 10 minutes from there. I have heard about the progress on getting the LZ at the airport back. I live 3000 miles away... but when I do visit I do call them. Both times I've been by Skydive Oregon the weather hasn't cooperated (go figure Oregon in the early spring ) [/threadjack]

captain_stan 0 #14 July 6, 2009 QuoteHow many non USPA dropzones are there ?An estimation would be: the number of DZs listed on this website minus the number of DZs listed on USPA's website or magazine. Of course DZ.com's data may not be as current if DZs don't update their info. Since USPA only lists paid members, their data should be very current. BTW, one reason for buying a group membership has been that a DZ may then host an unlimited number of USPA certification courses without paying an additional fee for each one--someone please correct me if this has recently changed. Group member fees and course fees do change over the years, but in a relatively recect case, the cost for our non-member, Cessna DZ to host one course was equal to an annual group membership fee. We got a group membership, hosted two courses, and came out money ahead.
